I love my 2014 GC Limited, but I've never bought a new vehicle that has had as many issues than my current Jeep. It will take many miles of "no issues" to regain my trust in this vehicle when it comes to dependability. As it stands now, I will be parting ways with my Jeep as soon as the warranty period is ending.

Which is sad, if you think about it, because if the Jeep Grand Cherokee as a vehicle was as reliable as most of the cars that are always in the top 10% of manufacturers reliability ratings, it would really be the "perfect" vehicle for a lot of us and we'd want to keep it as long as we could.

For me, assuming the GC still fits our needs after this lease is up, we'll just toss the keys back and lease another, always making sure we're under warranty. Or, I might buy it and flip it immediately if it has been trouble-free for a year or so before the lease is up.

When adding all the electronics that Chrysler has for this 2014 jgc you would have to expect a few software or other gremlins as that occurs with all
makes and models that first arrive. That's not accepting any excuses for jeep not making sure they put out a flawless product but its understandable. For the few of you who have had their cars in service for repeated visits I'm sure you know that's not the norm and I wish for you that there was a different outcome. Overall I believe this is still an excellent product and will be for years to come, does chrysler have some kinks to work out??? Absolutely as does other auto makers because who wants to invest hard earned cash in a vehicle that we can't drive because it's sitting in a device bay.

Yep. I definitely will be curious about the Cherokee launch. There, you have a completely new, extremely complex product. I'm sure at the price just announced, it will sell like hotcakes but I am also sure Chrysler will have a few growing pains with it. I wonder if they will pay more attention to it because it is a completely new model? All told, Chrysler seems to have acted as quickly as i would expect to the new GC launch issues that have come up in these forums. That's a good thing. It seems most fixes are either in STAR cases, in TSBs, or otherwise in the works.

Ran into my first Uconnect issue tonight. Radio wouldn't respond to volume controls. That was fun. Fixed itself within a few seconds, but I was like "oh no... Here we go..."

Still don't quite trust it, but I am getting better....

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

You asked me if I felt lucky. Well looks like I am not all that lucky lol.

I have about 161 Miles on my Summit. So, far everything works. One thing I did notice, the head lights have a little water in them. I drove it for the first time at night last night.
I just happen to look back at the jeep and the lights were partly fogged.

I have to say the 2014 rides and handles way better then the 2011 did.

You might still be lucky. I have read in these forums that condensation in the HID lights is normal. They are vented, so some condensation is normal and burns off as soon as you turn the lights on for a bit.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Just got a call from Chrysler customer care... They approved me getting a replacement vehicle! He told me an external company handles it on the behalf, and that I would be contacted by them.

Anyone else go through this process? Have any ideas on how long it takes, or how they handle everything?

I cannot wait to have a working vehicle! I have to tell you, sometimes I hate reading jeep garage, cause I see all the awesome stuff people are doing in/with their Jeeps, and I am jealous.

All excellent questions... The customer care guy could not give me any answers, only saying that some outside company handles it on their behalf. I would really like to know the answers to those questions, and others.

I feel happy he told me it was approved, but very much in the dark about what happens now.

Nice, did you have a lawyer or did you just go through the process the normal way?

I did not get a lawyer, but I am not sure what I did was "the normal way" either.

After the second time it broke down on me, I called everyone I could think of, and made a pest of myself. I even wrote on Jeep's facebook page. At this point, Chrysler's customer care was not very good, their response to me sucked, and I was annoyed.

After the third breakdown and tow, even the sales guy that sold me the Jeep was trying to get Chrysler to do a buyback/replacement.

I even asked my company's manager of fleet services to use any contacts they had available (we have a large sales force, who all have company cars).

After the forth time it broken down, I finally started getting some decent answers back.

Once I was at about 35 days in total at the service department, Chrysler customer care started whatever process they have to do a replacement. From that point, it has taken about a week to hear that the replacement was approved.
