Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Thanks bill. I think I will find a way to get close enough to what I had.

The ISG person did seem to imply that the original dealer had to process the replacement.

What jp467 said is right, base on the one conversation I had with ISG... The dealership gets nothing out of this.

I am trying to see if ISG will do it as a buyback... then, I get all the money I put into it back, and can start from scratch. If that is the case, the dealership would get something out of it, and I even have the option to lease this time, instead of buying it. The ISG rep seemed open to exploring that.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Alright, we have a plan for resolution!

ISG/Chrysler is going to give me back all the money I put into the JGC< and I can start from scratch. They said it will take about 2 weeks to process that.

In the mean time, I get to figure out what I want. I wish there was less of a lead time to have one built, that would be my ideal situation, I would just have to figure out how to deal with not having a car for that length of time.

A Cherry Red Overland with brown/light frost interior and OAII sounds pretty good.

Since they are paying everything off, and I start from scratch, I think I am going to lease this time instead of buying.

The leasing thing isn't bad except for all the restrictions mileage etc and the fact that you have to give it back afterwards with nothing to show for the payments you've made.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Just my opinion but with interest rates in the 3% area there is little financial incentive to lease.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I agree leasing makes little sense with interest rates as low as they are, but everyone has a different take on this. I would make sure you get what you want though so if it takes a few extra weeks to order one it might be worth it. I have read of several people getting their jeeps in 4 to 5 weeks, so if you ordered now by the time your buyback is complete you would maybe only have 2 or 3 weeks to wait.

No money down, lower monthly payments, and after the experience I just had, the peace of mind that I can just turn it in after 3 years. <-- that last part is the kicker.

Yeah but thats kinda like having an apartment multiply what you're paying for a lease times 36 months then realize afterwards you have nothing to show for it but a lack of cash.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Leasing, buying, an age old argument that no one wins. It's really a personal preference. Buying almost always is monetarily a better deal, but there are intrinsic arguments for leasing that make a great deal of sense for a lot of people, not the least of which is fear of commitment. I definitely see marosenb's side of it even though I'd never lease a vehicle myself.

Each state has their own tax laws, but typically you only pay sales tax on the cost of the lease, not the cost of the car.

It's really a one time savings, because if you buy a car and the trade it in, you only pay tax on the difference. My trade in was $35,000 so my sales tax on the Jeep was only based on about $12,000.

Depending on the state and county taxes leasing is not necessarily a good idea for that reason also.
