Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Dealer just called. "Although we went through everything the first time, we did find a loose ground on the battery negative cable. It was loose enough that you could move it with your hand." "Any reason you didn't find this the first time I asked you to check the grounds?" "We just didn't find it. We're confident this was the source of the issue though, the truck is driving beautifully now." "Really."

Here we go again.

Heh, good luck with it. I got a call from the dealer, saying I can pick it up tomorrow. They feel it was the left side oxygen sensors that were the issue this time. Not sure how that could cause everything, but we will see.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Got my JGC back!

Hopefully that is the last round of issues. I am not holding my breath, but we will see.
I have to say, the dealership has been great. As frustrated as I have been, they have handled everything so well.

I wish I could say the same for Chrysler customer care. They really made a frustrating situation worse. Seriously, when I ask them what my options are, telling me to trade my vehicle in for a loss. Are you kidding me?!?

As for my Jeep: They told me that the broken left catalytic converter caused the first issue. When that went, it put strain/messed with the left oxygen sensors, but that issue did not show up until I was driving around after the first repair.

Still no mention on the phantom electric issues. They are still hoping it was a one time quirk.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Was going to update my post and say the Jeep has been flawless since we got it back. I even canceled the rental I had gotten for my wife for the week because we trusted it again. Stupid me. Stupid, stupid me. Wife was driving to dr. appt that she missed when it failed on her. Now she's getting the SERV4WD message (on a 2014? I thought they fixed this) and she's worried. Dealer says, "we'll call you about getting it in here for a loaner." I hope it makes it. When will this end?

Feeling really discouraged.

At least this time it didn't shut down. But, if you haven't already, I'd start learning what you can about your state's lemon laws.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

It looks like the mentioned TSB for earlier GC's actually reflashes the ABS module. Now, the first time we had the GC dying issue, they *replaced* my ABS module.

Wonder if the replacement part had an old firmware on it -- could it work like that? Curious. Either way, all this drama with a car my wife drives every day is making me ill.

Take it back and tell them to keep it. They should put you in a new one! If they give any push back, hire a lawyer. If it was me i wouldn't take back at this point.

Man, I feel for you. That is horrendous. I have had mine back since last Thursday, and so far, so good. I wish I had a good answer for you... I even looked up the Lemon laws in your state, and they are tougher than they are in CT for me, but 4 repair attempts gives you the basics of what you need. Good luck to you!

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

PB617 - Yeah, that's easy to say, not so easy to do. I have heard this from a lot of folks -- "I'd dump it on their doorstep and say take it back." Try that when you're on the hook with the leasing company. My assigned rep at Chrysler has pretty much stopped talking to me as well. Not sure why that is. I guess once the district manager said no way in hell was he going to swap out my GC, corporate deferred to him. My dealer just keeps saying "we'll fix it," completely ignoring the inconvenience this is causing me and my family and ignoring the fact that I can't trust this thing anymore.

marosenb - the four times is for "one issue." The dealership asked me several times, "so this is something different, right?" Well, it didn't die in the middle of the street, so I guess so. For multiple issues, it has to be out of service for 30 days. I think we're at day 8 or 9 out of service.

From consumer reports on your state's lemon Laws:

" A "condition" is a general problem, such as a difficulty in starting, repeated stalling, or a malfunctioning transmission, that can result from a defect of one or more parts"

4 repair attempts for the same condition.

So, you could make the case that it is a general condition, they are trying to fix multiple parts for. Just keep it in mind, as you are going through all this... I wish I had better advice.
