I guess once the district manager said no way in hell was he going to swap out my GC, corporate deferred to him. My dealer just keeps saying "we'll fix it," completely ignoring the inconvenience this is causing me and my family and ignoring the fact that I can't trust this thing anymore.
There has to be someone higher up that you can talk to. How long do they plan on repairing a brand new car that can't go more then a week without breaking down? I know this is a bad situation and nobody wants to deal with legal battles and i would hope it didn't go that far and Chrysler will step up and do the right thing. How long before the lemon law takes effect?

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I've decided to get a lawyer involved. This is too much. I'm trying to coordinate doctors appointments, interviews, phone conferences, etc. and I just can't be dragging this POS to the dealer every week. I need a vehicle I don't have to bring to the dealer -- one that I can just trust is going to work safely and keep my family protected and secure.

THIS IS THE WHOLE REASON WHY I DID NOT BUY A USED CAR for my family vehicle. I DO NOT expect to have to do ANYTHING to it other than regular maintenance.

I should have just gone for the friggin Acura.

Disgusted with Jeep. Really. They're about to lose me for life.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Sorry to hear about all your troubles with your Jeep. I don't blame you in the least...I hope you win BIG time.

This is my first American vehicle in 14 years myself, and I just dropped mine off at the dealership for the second time for the same problem...and I don't even have 500 miles on it yet!

And American car companies wonder why they they lost so much market share to the foreign car companies.

Man, I'm sorry about this. I wish I had constructive advice. I can't even imagine what you are going through.

For what it's worth (which may not be much), I generally follow forums for a bit as I get on each new vehicle (every three years). It seems in the last ten years or so, someone on a forum has had a catastrophic problem with each - an Acura, an MDX, a GMC Acadia, a Nissan Murano, and now a JGC - and I've been disappointed with the reported manufacturer's response every time.

Knock on wood, I personally haven't had a serious problem with any of them. But the best auto company with which I have ever dealt - hands down - is Lexus (regarding my wife's vehicle).

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Yeah, I've always seen one or two of these on each forum. Lucky me, it's my car this time.

My dad had the most amazing service for his Infiniti. No matter what happened, they would roll over backward for him to make him happy with his purchase.

Really, look at all the issues with the 2014's on this forum. I've been on a lot of forums and honestly, the number of complaints here seems pretty heavy for one model.

I cannot say how much I both love and hate this car at the same time. I just want a good one, but this is the last one. I just can't take this kind of chance again, particularly when the company has stopped responding to me. I don't want to get a lawyer involved, but I'm being forced to.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

It's not the TSB's. I think there are only two or three out for the 2014's. It's Uconnect issues, grounds, other tricky things.

If you get a good one, you'll apparently be fine.

If you get a bad one, expect three or four visits to the dealer attempting to fix. That's the number a few of us are up to now.

Plus, the dealer put 100 miles on my brand new car. This, during the break-in. They took it from 350 to 450 trying to assure me it was fixed. Who knows who drove it? Who knows how they drove it? Who knows how many full throttle starts were done in 100 miles?

Thank friggin god I leased the thing and can just dump it back with them when I'm done. This could be the longest 39 months of my life.

But we'll see what the lawyer says.

My wife is pissed off at me, because this is the first vehicle in a long time that I have not leased. I bought it. I hope something good happens out of all of this for you.

I hope everything works. Being from the Philippines, I already had bias with Japanese cars-my dad and sis are Toyota peeps, bro a Honda guy, and I've been devoted to Nissan's CVT, my wife had a Camry we replaced with a Subaru Outback when we found out we were having our first child 2 years ago. I was ready to settle and purchase a new Accord (mileage and reliability) but when the deal fell through, I told my wife ill just get the truck I've been wanting to get and not "settle" for a sedan. AMC-I feel for you man. There is no replacing my family whence truck suddenly dies in the middle of the NJ Turnpike with an 18-wheeler barreling behind it. NO WAY. I would make that district manager take your truck for a week and drive his family in it for a week-screw the mileage-once he realizes the dangers this issue involves, lets see what his opinion are now. I'd hate to go with another truck as I have fallen in love with the new gen jGCs that I wanted it to be my first American vehicle. But I know I am not willing to put my family at risk for my own selfishness because I "want" this truck. Fortunately I have until this fall with my current Maxima lease. But if I keep hearing major issues like this, I may just stay Japanese cars-Pathfiner is ok, Murano I can deal with, considered a CPO MDX, heck, I'd make my wife happy if we become a 2 Subaru family if I buy a Forester or a Legacy.

Chrysler needs to realize that they cannot put a price or risk the families of those who are buying their vehicles so that they can feed their own families.

Good luck and if you would, no matter the outcome, keep us all posted.

That's what's so irritating -- you do all your research, you think you're buying a safe vehicle and that Chrysler/Jeep have worked out all these quality control issues since FIAT took them over. You fork over big money...

And you still get screwed and it doesn't just affect you, it affects your whole family. All over a vehicle that should be pretty damn close to 100% functional for its entire warranty period. I understand things break or go funky, especially in modern automobiles, but I think for a lot of us here, we're at the very far far limit of what is acceptable. Some of us are beyond that.

Thanks for the kind words... I would, indeed, like to see the district manager in this vehicle for a week. Let's see if he has better luck with it than I have. So far I have not been able to get more than three solid days together without it going ape$hit about something.

Like I said, we love the vehicle. Love the features, love the Uconnect system, love the handling. But I certainly hate it too. After hearing what happened to others when they took it in the sand, you think I'm going to trust it when the first snow hits and salt gets into everything? Right now, I'm treating this vehicle like it has a glass jaw. So much for Jeep history - go anywhere, do anything, rugged reliability. That notion is ENTIRELY SHOT with me and this vehicle. Forever.

What I should have done, if I wanted a slightly bigger vehicle than my totaled TSX SportWagon was do what you suggest -- I should have sprung for a CPO MDX. Depending on what happens with the lawyer, I might end up going down that route. But what a crying shame. Like I said -- we want this vehicle, we just want it to work like it was supposed to.
