Jeep corporate is nice at first, however as soon as they speak to your local dealer it seems like they just defer to whatever the dealer says.
That is EXACTLY my experience - you feel at first like you really are going to get taken care of. And then as soon as corporate speaks to the local reps, whether it be the dealer or the regional service folks, that's when everything gets gummed up. Seems like the local people have more pull than corporate.

That Service 4WD light is just absolutely ridiculous. Like you said -- supposed to be a Jeep.

The lawyer took a look at my service records and wants me to forward the new one to them when I get it. They are fairly certain I will not have to wait for a fourth occurrence of any related issue.

I just called the dealer to see if they had any updates. He said "we've been working on it, but haven't found anything substantial. If we find something out, we'll give you a call." Wow. Nothing substantial. That REALLY inspires confidence. In other words, "we don't know what the hell is wrong with it."

Really really glad I got the lawyers involved. The question now is, would you accept another 2014? I'd be really really stupid to do that, right?

Also I have seen displays that make it hard to tell a "1" from a "7".

That is one of the things I like about Torque ($5 app for Android, use with a $20 BT dongle). I can send test results home via e-mail from either the Tablet I use for lots of things or from my smart phone & read at my leisure.

One of the things I send myself periodically is standard test #6 which is quite comprehensive and includes both current and average misfires for each cyl (have a '12 Pentastar):

MID:$a3 TID:$0b
EWMA Misfire counts (average) for last 10 drive cycles - Misfire Cylinder 2 Data
Max: 65,535 Count Min: 0 Count
Test result value: 0 Count
Maybe I should pick up one of those. I have an INNOVA 3100 and have been very happy with it, but it would be nice not to have to be tethered to it while getting live data.

I wonder how many more miles they're putting on my brand new Jeep trying to find out what's wrong this time?

I just leave the dongle in place & when I get in, select the Album I want to hear, start that and switch to the engine instrumentation readout (up to 17 parameters simultaneously). I like to know what is happening. If something goes wrong, now have the whole service manual available to tell what happenened & how to fix.

Keep in mind everyone while it's obviously frustrating to have these kinds of issues with a new car there are alot of people both on this forum and not on this forum who are enjoying their car without flaws. Hopefully everyone's issues will be found and worked out without anymore agony.

I am sure. However, you have to admit the number of just people on this forum with issues is pretty staggering. I have been on a lot of car forums in my day and there are always a few threads like this. It does seem like there are a lot more issues reported here than on other forums for other cars, at least the forums I have been on (VW, Saab, Subaru, Mazda and Acura)

With all new models usually there are some software bugs that's the cost of advancement and as much as they try to avoid those issues it is sometimes inevitable. There are alot of people on this forum also saying they love the new jeep and have had no issues. Hell BMWs spend more time in the service bays then on the street that goes for Mercedes etc. on BMW forums for instance there's a common thread where alot of people are saying they can be great cars just make sure you get rid of them BEFORE the warranty runs out.

If you look at all the people that were in the vehicle tracking thread and compare those to the people having issues, it is a small percentage. Most that have had theirs tracked, haven't even posted anything. Small percentage to the big picture of sales.

Well, I guess that makes me feel a bit better about my odds if we get another one. There really doesn't seem to be any other vehicle out there that we want. But after the way Chrysler is treating us right now (district manager doesn't seem to care that I am being severely inconvenienced and with the possibly safety issues), I still have to wonder if I would be stupid to get another.

He sure is. To me at least. You can give the company the benefit of the doubt, but when everyone is saying yeah, you have grounds for a swap (even within Chrysler) and one person is fighting back, putting your family at risk, you see how forgiving you are.

On TV tonight. An advertisement. "Jeep Grand Cherokee - the best of what we're made of..."

Jeep, its time to step up and show me if you really mean that. You either stand behind your product or you don't. Right now, Chrysler isn't. Its as simple as that.

Sugar coat it all you want, claim most aren't having issues. Claim one person doesn't represent the company, when in fact, on my case, Russell Ramone is. Walk a mile in my shoes for the last three weeks. I'm driving a Grand Caravan that at 8000 miles feels like the rear axle is falling off. I just want a Grand Cherokee that works and is safe. So far, this is far, far from what I was promised when I bought it - the best of what Jeep is made of.
