Had a 2011 JGC and never had problems with it. I have noticed this sound right off the bat. Also the tranny is not smooth at all but I've read everything here concerning that so nothing I can do until a software update hopefully comes soon. Feel like Jeep/Chrysler backtracked a bit in quality from my 2011. Just my opinion. But first things first... anybody have similar sounds from the AC. The AC blows cold air by the way.
I noticed mine a while ago making a lot of the hissing noise during cycling and it didn't seem right. It seems to have gotten better though, as that was happening during the beginning of hotter summer days when I started just using it full blast. Although, now I've started hearing a new noise this summer that's coming from the engine bay only when the AC is on, like yours. It makes an unhappy whining sound between 2-3,000 RPM and going from 1st to 2nd gear. I was going to take it in to the dealer last Friday, but I've backed out of 3 appointments so far just because I don't want to put up with them right now and would rather hear the noise for the time being. Doesn't seem to affect performance either....
Anyway, mine sounds like it's having similar issues as yours.
I'm at about ~10,000 miles and the AC is also blowing cold air. No idea what could be amiss.
