Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

Driving in my wife's GC limited today, high temps in th northeast and high humidity. The A/c seems to be just passable at the low setting. I would expect I to be ice cold an make your skin feel cold on the highest setting. I am comparing the output to my VW GTI that is 10 years old.

The system on our previous 2011 JGC seemed to put out colder air. A previous post mentioned that they changed the system for the 2014 MY.

Angry Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, About a month ago was muggy hot in the 90s here in Upstate NY, I was driving normal had the AC on Auto, inside the vehicle was keeping comfortable, then all of a sudden it started to get hot inside, the air flow was cold coming out of the vents, but was blowing very very low, i went and tried to turn the fan on high, it still was coming out the same, so stunned cause i only had 1500 miles on it, i tried and turn it on just vent, about 30 sec later this white air came out of the vents, and the air flow was back on high, since then the AC feels like it does not get very cold anymore like it use too. I took it into the dealer they said there is nothing wrong.. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had the same issue on a long trip. System was blowing and the vents were cold to the touch but no air was coming out of the vents. After turning the system off for a while it started working again. Took it to dealer last week and a controller part (?) needs replacing. Had to be ordered before it can be fixed.

Yeah, In My Non Humble Opinion, the flow rate is much too low in auto on days where the outside temp is not that far above desired temp--particularly if it is humid or bright sun.

It IS able to cool down and keep the interior cool at 100+, and seems to work better with a large difference between the set temp and external ambient.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

I posted this on another thread,

Maybe someone else has experienced this.
When I have the AC in the Automatic mode sometimes on the interstate the AC will start blowing at a lower speed and a good deal warmer. So warm it feels like it not cooling at all. I can cut it off and on and it will start blowing and cooling like it should. So cool I have to raise the temp to 74 or higher for it to be comfortable on a 90 degree day. Now something else has started to show up.On start up with the AC in the Auto mode it will only blow through the floor and the defroster vents. I can restart the GC and play with the controls but it will only blow through the dash vents if I select the manual mode and it works fine. If I let is sit for about an hour the auto mode will work fine. The dealer can't reproduce it but it did it again today. Something else is strange, almost every time it happens the the unit reads 81Degress outside regardless what the outside temp is. As today when it was acting up it read 81,The correct temp was 94. After sitting for several hours it reads 92 the true outside temp and it worked as it should in the Auto mode. I have a Star Case started, and would like to get it fixed.
Please let me know if you have experienced anything like this.

We were on a long trip and I had to keep shutting the AUTO to off and manually manage the temp/fan in our 2014. If you put it on 68 AUTO, it would get hot. Put it on 67 and suddenly would start blowing ice cold on our face/arms like it was suddenly trying to cool down the cabin really quickly. There didn't seem to be any in between. I didn't bother to take it into the dealer since we're getting rid of it, but the A/C definitely is not great in this vehicle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

so.. perhaps Willx can comment on this - but - Ive had the same weirdness with the AC as some of you - mostly not cold enough - fan slowing down then speeding up randomly etc.. Today I did the TSB for remote start and AC - and - I could swear the AC when I drove it worked differently.. Is 84 in NJ today - and - the cabin was cold. I didn't notice the cycling either. Perhaps Willx can advise if jeep put anything else in the flash of the AC module besides temp control with remote start... Maybe its my imagination - but I did drive it for 2 hours afterwards....

I took it to the dealership and they identified that the compressor is cycling too quickly and that the pressure was slightly low. They re-charged the A/C systerm and stated that it was fixed. The problem seemed to be fixed but after driving it for a while I noticed the same problem. I took it to the dealer for the second time and they insisted that this was normal operation. Does anybody else have this symptom? Is this normal?
I am noticing the same symptoms on my 14 Limited that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. Did you ever find out what was causing this in your case?

Thanks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

My 2011 has been in the shop countless times for a similar blower issue where the flow of air stops when it is put in drive even though the fan motor continues to run at the same speed. In Park or Neutral the blower volume is quite strong. Also documented that pressing the recirculate button will allow full flow of air. Just curious if you can also duplicate this on yours.
