2014 Grand Cherokee Dashboard Buzz

I've got a faint but annoying buzz which seems to be coming from the cluster area, but it's hard to tell. It's vibration sensative, happening at low speeds under a load for the first few upshifts. The local dealers attitude "was live with it, it's liable to cause damage if we go chasing it". I think that they could have at lease looked behing the cluster.I've been under the dash quite a bit trying to see if anything is rubbing or loose, but I can't find anything obvious and I'm hesitant to try anything further. It's most audible in slow traffic with the radio down low. I would think that it's not that difficult for the dealer to pull the cluster and have a look, but I'm hesitant to go there myself. It's not the steering column bracket mentioned in the dashboard noise T.S.B. Has anyone had this experience? found a fix?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Dashboard Buzz

I had a similar problem. The issue with mine was two heat shields vibrating against each other, creating a "buzzing" sound that came through the floor behind the center console. I was able to slightly bend the heat shields with my hand so they were not touching and the problem went away. There were multiple areas where the heat shields can vibrate on the body as well so get a good look underneath. Don't try it when the vehicle is hot!

Did you have the steering wheel bracket TSB done?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Dashboard Buzz

I did have that checked out and the bracket had been removed. Apparently the air bag cover isn't the problem either, because the noise returned yesterday. Today it's gone again, no rhyme or reason. It has stayed away for as long as a few days and then it will start again. It also varies in intensity and volume. It's very aggravating having it be so intermittent. I've taken the cluster out and removed the center bezel looking for loose clips, wire ties anything like that, no luck. Could be plastic clearances that change with temperature. It's barely audible with the fan and radio on, I might just have to give it a rest and hope someday it just goes away permanently.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Dashboard Buzz

I have a 2014 Cherokee that I just purchased in Dec. I am experiencing the same problem and have had the vehicle back in 3 going on 4xs. Each time the dealership adds more insulation tape but it keeps coming back. They are having a regional rep come in this week to look at it. I also notice that there is a lot of vibration that you can feel in the center console at the same time in the dash. I am wondering now if the issue is transmission related that rides up into the dash perhaps on the tach line. Don't know. I can keep you apprised if you want.

There is also a TSB on a dash rattle for the 14's.

Thanks guys. I am taking it in tomorrow and have printed off all that I have gotten off of the blog. I hope that if they do all of what is suggested here, it will remedy the problem. I will keep you apprised.
