Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee leaking water

*Leaking Update*
It has been raining here, pretty much non-stop, for 3 days. I'm happy to say my floor is completely dry. No water in the battery compartment either. Hopefully, this is the end of the problem!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee leaking water

My drain on the passenger side was crimped. Water was coming out of the control panel and sounded like a percolating coffee pot as it tried to drain. All I know is they fixed it. Don't know if it was replaced or just re-routed to remove the crimped area but it was fixed.

If you have leak issues, would advise checking under your spare tire as that seems to be where all of the water ended up
dmcarfora I too have this problem in our 2014 Grand Cherokee- but we have no sunroof. Spare tire well is full of water after heavy rains, and water has soaked the floor access panel above the spare tire. What was the solution to yours?

This is an old tsb, but it might help, or at least give you some ideas.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee leaking water

Thanks. We have a service appointment set with the dealer (still under warranty) will advise as to what they tell me. I know they've been back in the rear hatch area recently troubleshooting the backup camera so I suspect that's where they will find the problem.

Signed....so disappointed.
Badmo, any updates on this? I had my sunroof creaking issue fixed by Jeep over the summer and have now developed the same leak. I noticed minor leaking the first few rains of the fall but it has been much worse recently. I parked a couple nights at an outdoor airport lot while on a business trip and came back to water all over the shift console, in the cupholder and the storage tray in front of the shift console. My car was parked at a slight angle with the nose facing downhill which seemed to makit worse. The passenger side footwell also had quite a bit of water as well. The carpet was definitely soaked.

I did the same thing.

I could have had my Jeep a week earlier with over a 100 fewer miles on it had I been willing to get one with a sunroof.

Instead, I wanted one without and the closest match came from Boston as opposed to elsewhere within Connecticut, but far closer.

I had a sunroof on my first used car. It was a factory one that actually slid inside the roof behind it, rather than on top or simply popping up. While I never had any problems with leaks, I hardly used it. I tended to only open it when went out to the car on a hot day so I could vent the heat quickly out the roof.

The thing I did run into, though, was a clog in the trough that runs between the windshield and the hood.

One day during a hard rain, I found the carpet was soaked. I thought it was the sunroof, but everything was dry. Checking the floor, I didn't find any leaks. That's when I realized those little "helicopter" seed pods from our maple tree had plugged up the drain holes in the trough and the water was overflowing through the dash.

So, while I realize this isn't everyone's problem in the thread, it's something everyone should watch out for. Even with the screen they put behind the vents, small stuff can lead to a big clog later.

It's easy to neglect that trough when you're washing and waxing your baby...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee leaking water

Found my problem. When you raise the hatch, look up top- there are two rubber grommets for two separate wiring bundles. The forward edge of the passenger side grommet was not seated. I snapped it down flat with a flat blade screwdriver, and leak solved.

I was glad I did because I ended up with later model year build that had less issues. So it turned out to be blessing.

.
Did the same.....waited another few weeks for my limited to come in- minus the sun roof.
