Thanks, Willx. I thought they may do a recall if they identify that ABS modules are failing. If it is due to a certain supplier, they should be able to determine when those modules were used in assembly and recall those vin numbers. Since a failing ABS module is a safety issue, and since the failures seem to happen at random times during ownership, a recall would be appropriate. As you say, the christmas lights are working correctly by warning drivers of an issue but the issue itself (failing ABS modules) should be corrected.

I hope that between my dealer's efforts and through the Chrysler "Enhanced Customer Satisfaction" program, I really can get back on the road soon and I appreciate your good wishes in that regard. I'm glad that this is not a problem shared by everyone and I hope I can soon start posting positive stories of a great experience driving my GC.

I should maybe reword part of what I said. Affected VINs may get inspected. They know where the problem is and they will certainly protect their collective butts so yes there would be a possibility of a customer satisfaction campaign, just that it wouldn't really be clasified the same was as a NHTSA Recall for a safety problem.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Do you think they are sure the abs module is causing the problem? Could it be they are trying to get their hands on some from affected vehicles so they can test them? In my case they replaced the pcm. I think there has been some reflashing of pcm's.

My feeling is that the solution is still a work in progress.

Willx,

Being new here i am very interested in others and my problem.
Do you think after my ABS Module is replaced all will be well depending on what other codes are being blocked right now.

There was 2 problems, not sure either was completely resolved but they were pretty rare.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Dammit...me too. I traded in my 100,000+ mile Audi S4 because I was tired of annoying maintenance problems. I've had my 2014 Overland for a month and BOOM, I fell victim to "The Christmas Tree" fault. I'm annoyed at having to deal with maintenance issues on a "premium" vehicle. Silver lining, it's warrantied.

Yes warranty and they are aware of the issues. It is good to have this type of problem early on and dealt with. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Skipper, Padgett, Mad City, et.al I too have the Christmas light issue. Started with 600 miles on the odo. Took it to the nearest dealer...they had for 4 days...couldn't duplicate the problem but they did find that the abs module was not communicating with the computer. also they pulled about 13 or more stored codes..but no active ones by the time the tech got to it. Seems like the jp just made a remarkable recovery!!!
Even star group had no good answers...they told mechanic to erase the codes and let me drive it (a human guinea pig) until it did it again. I told them I was concerned that it I was in rough country that getting a tow truck might be difficult and expensive. Taking it today to the selling dealership who wants to solve problem. They were very interested in your posts and want to help..The first dealership I took it to (they were 2 miles from where I had a problem) tried but just couldn't do anything other than what Chrylser Star group suggested...which is give it back to the customer to see if it does it again....don't feel very confortable with that...don't think the wifey will every drive the jp again. Wants the old Envoy back again??!!

Please let me know how you guys are doing with getting your GC repaired...I need all the help I can get. thanks in advance...hope your GC 's are doing great by now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Skipper, Padgett, Mad City et.al tried to send a reply post but ended up on a different thread. I have the Christmas tree problem too at 600 miles. Biggest problem was that the brakes were being applied on its own. Brake light stayed on for about 35 minutes too. Drove it carefully to the nearest dealer and they found a lot of code problems and that the ABS module was not communicating with the computer. Eventually the gc cured itself and the tech couldn't find any active codes to determine the problem. Tech said he couldn't duplicate the problem, and that ABS module has no codes and is not dropping out on the loss of com test. Star center says "one concern found on these was WSS loaded with coating of rust. Inspect and clear if needed. There are other cases where these codes are set. No exact fix. Clear codes and see if reset. If not have customer notice how driving and if concern returns." (this is star group code for we don't know what to do for a fix)

So today I return to the selling dealership who want to try and solve the problem...May have to swap vehicles if can get Chrysler approval. Not really happy with my decision to buy a new car....could have just kept the old ones which were working great.

Let me know how the fixes on you gc's are working out . any more problems...did the techs find what was causing the problems.

thanks in advance...this forum is great!!!

The only way I know to reply to a specific post is to use the quote button.
