Biggest problem was that the brakes were being applied on its own. Brake light stayed on for about 35 minutes too. Drove it carefully to the nearest dealer and they found a lot of code problems and that the ABS module was not communicating with the computer. Eventually the gc cured itself and the tech couldn't find any active codes to determine the problem. Tech said he couldn't duplicate the problem, and that ABS module has no codes and is not dropping out on the loss of com test. Star center says "one concern found on these was WSS loaded with coating of rust. Inspect and clear if needed. There are other cases where these codes are set. No exact fix. Clear codes and see if reset. If not have customer notice how driving and if concern returns." (this is star group code for we don't know what to do for a fix)

So today I return to the selling dealership who want to try and solve the problem...May have to swap vehicles if can get Chrysler approval. Not really happy with my decision to buy a new car....could have just kept the old ones which were working great.

Let me know how the fixes on you gc's are working out . any more problems...did the techs find what was causing the problems.

thanks in advance...this forum is great!!!
GCTRAILSTER - You asked for an update on my GC. We have not experienced the "Christmas Tree" problem since we took it to the dealer back in June (the lights had gone off prior to our appointment, and the only work the did was to tighten the grounding strap). Currently have 2500+ miles. Our only issue now is I recently discovered the "Brake" light does not come on when the parking brake is deployed, an issue we'll have fixed at our first scheduled dealer visit. If you thought the V-6 was doggy with the "Eco-mode" turned on, it's an absolute rocket compared to driving with the parking brake accidentally engaged!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Would really help to know if any of the codes were for high, low, or "improbable" values. (answer is not 42). If not listed, just post the codes if not too much trouble (should be on your service ticket).

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

I was just hit with the Christmas Tree phenomenon on my 2014 Summit this past Monday night. Car has been in service at dealer since then. ABS module was their immediate diagnosis, they said they had seen it a number of times before, yet they didn't have any in stock. They said that the module is coded to the vehicle's VIN. True or not, to not be prepared to provide service for a known issue is a major customer service boo-boo IMHO. I have just been informed (on Day 4) that the part has arrived after having been expedited. Otherwise, the car is mostly great. I really am not a fan of the Wrangler loaner they gave me.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Are all of these troubles on limited/overland and summits or are there some base laredos mixed in to the bunch? Hard to tell.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

My 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited had a similar instrument cluster issue on Sunday. It has 5,000 miles. The speedometer went blank yet tachometer was working properly. Multiple fault lights lit up (abs, traction control, transmission, & brake.) Backup camera worked in reverse but without assist lines. Backup warning would not engage. , fuel economy mpg display reading 0 and odometer would not advance.

Turned engine off 3 times complete with actually exiting and locking vehicle.

Decided to drive it as it seemed to be operating properly despite the instrument cluster going nuts. I assumed it was a speed sensor issue as faults seemed to be consistent with a faulty wheel speed data.

I took a picture of the dash while at a stop light for proof to dealer in case it magically disappeared.

Kids had iPhone charger plugged into 110v outlet in back seat at the time. Sunny and humid day but no rain.

After Jeep set for 3 hours, it was fine on a restart except transmission light remained on. Transmission light is still on as of today (Labor Day). Going back to dealer on Tuesday

My first Jeep and I loved it up to this point. Being at Electrical Engineer, not happy as these kind of issues are not easy to diagnose. Could be software, grounds, sensors, etc. I'm documenting as much as possible too see what may be in common with the other posts.

Exact issue. Just under 7,000 miles. Warning lights all over when turning on (ABS, airbag, etc.). Parking assist sensor off. Speedometer border flashing red. Warning lights flashing intermittently. Called Uconnect and they had no record of recall or guidance to offer. However, it looks like there has been a recall issued on the 2014 Grands. 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram Trucks Recalled for Instrument-Cluster Defects | Edmunds.com.

Left vehicle parked for three hours then turned back on. Engine malfunction light on. Off to the dealership tomorrow!

Had the same thing happen to me last week. Went away and has not reoccurred so far..... I was told in another thread that they are mailing out recall notices this month.

A trip to the dealer will most likely be a waste of time right now. The MIL will go out after a few more starts.

The dealers probably don't have the software yet. If the dealer is not up to date on what is going on, they may wind up trying to fix something they really don't know how to fix. Wait for the recall letter. 90,000+ Jeep owners will get the same fix ... you are not alone.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Electronics Problem

Is it okay to drive it with the engine malfunction light on? I commute to a different city for work so put quite a few miles a day on it. Thanks for your input.
