Okay, I get it now.
What gets me is the lack of thorough QC checks during manufacture AND AT PRE-DELIVERY. I have little knowledge of vehicle manufacturing but I paid for and expected a fault free vehicle at purchase. The Prado was faultless and the only claim I can remember having was 2 years into ownership where the CD changer started skipping. Everything else was faultless. The only difference I can see here is that Toyota has superior QC to Jeep. Surely it's more cost effective to engineer out WELL KNOWN problems, such as the tailgate handle than to have to get it back into the shop and fix it?

Not to mention the ill-will I feel towards the brand when I have to waste my time taking the vehicle back to the dealer for something that should have been right before it left the factory. I should start invoicing the dealer for my hourly rate and see how quick they fix it

I really like this car, but their 1970's-standard QC really gets up my nose. They keep sending me surveys, and I keep giving them brickbats. Nothing seems to change, however. I even left my contact details, but I think they're too afraid (or lazy) to contact me to discuss.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

A new problem today. Started the car and no radio. Screen came up but no frequency displayed and no presets available. Turned it off got out locked the door opened again and started again - this time I can get the last station I was listening to but nothing else. All other functions on the screen work perfectly except the radio. Can't change bands, tune or reset the presets. Back to the dealer I guess.

Surveys are a total waste of time
The survey questions are designed for a specific outcome result
Surveys are not for finding out the real truth or facts they are their to support what they are doing.
Staff are employed to write the questions to gain a specific result.

I have the same issue which occurs every now and then. Does it work again after not using the car for a while? I did raise this with the dealer but as it couldn't be replicated while the vehicle was there, nothing could be done about it. None of the updates help either. I've learnt to accept minor annoyances with the Jeep, including this one which thankfully does not happen too often.

Mine did this today after reading this. Never happened before. Must be contagious.

Thumbs down Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

I'm really pissed off with Jeep Australia and AAMI
Not Parts!
I love my new Grand Cherokee 2014 Laredo CRD with Quadra lift Air suspension but miss it terribly. My 1st trip into the country in Kosciusko National park my two month old Jeep was struck by a falling gum tree while travelling on sealed road.

This was the 3rd of January 2014. Now 11 weeks later I am still waiting for roof parts because there are none in Australia. Today I was told that Jeep Australia ordered the wrong roof parts and I may have to wait another 5 weeks. That will be 15 weeks waiting for panel parts for the roof.

I cannot understand why a four wheel drive vehicle company does not carry spare roof parts in Australia and why does it take so long to get them.

$16,000 for the roof replacement and once the parts are received it is estimated repair will take another 5 weeks.

So my Jeep story is this.
Ordered 2014-model 10 April 2013
Delivered 6 month later 28 October 2013
2 months use
1st country trip a tree fell on roof 3rd Jan 2014
11 weeks waiting for parts to date 21/03/2014
Still waiting and may be another 10 weeks until I get it back.
Total time will be 21 weeks for a roof repair.
Who wants a Jeep with no spare parts in Australia?
Insured with AAMI. – No loan car or assistance.
Thanks for listening to my bitching.
Is there anyone else out there having similar problems?
Cheers
Jeepski7

That sucks big time man. I best check our insurance provisions on this one.

Cheers,
Steve

I guess you will be making sure you have hire car coverage in your policy next time.

Yeah, big consolation having a Getz or something else awesome to drive.

The parts wait is excessive.

You know those hire cars go from 100km/h to revers in 3 seconds.

Haha... I remember a trip to perth in my younger years. Kings park was a great place for burnouts.
