My rear spoiler is the source of a creak that usually happens when the van is hooked up. Rough roads too seem to trigger it.

And mine was a source of leak, which I incorrectly assumed was the water running down the open hatch

2013 GC SRT8
1. Throttle body replaced after stopping dead on freeway 100 kph to read stop. 6 weeks at dealer. No idea and no parts
2 fenders on wheel arches all came loose on each wheel. Fixed eventually with silastic

3. Currently have random dead throttle. Mostly after coasting down hill or just after filling tank

And perelli tyres now quoted to be $1025 each and no stock in Australia for two months.

Brembo genuine pads been on order at dealer now for 2 months

My JGC has recently developed a strange fan noise when the aircon is switched on. It is a sort of an alternating fan/hissing sound which quietens or disappears once you are moving. Anyone else come across this issue, and what was the fix?
Cheers

I think hissing is normal for aircon.

I get a medium pitched noise from the fan when it is on speed 1. Only noticeable when you have no music playing.

The dealer has had to keep it for another day to await further instructions from CJD on a fix.

I'm curious to know whether anyone else has had a similar experience and what the fix may have been?

Yep, same issue for me. The dealer tried by replacing the sunroof. As it turned out, they removed the interior and found they needed to weld a joint at the rear. It took a week to find the problem, but it was fixed at no cost.

Hi Butts, been a while. What needed welding? Something in the roof?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

When they stripped the interior, they placed the sub-frame under some stresses and noticed some additional movement in the rear structure. Some spot welds to strengthen and all was good. If this is the same for you, it only happened at slow speed when articulating uneven ground. When I had the camper on the back, it wasn't there hence my theory that it was in the back frame that needed looking at. They were a little quiet to fully explain the repair, but it hasn't made the noise since.

No no noise for us, just an oil leak.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

I've now towed nearly 20K with the camper behind. I was wondering if this might of caused my problem. I've also enjoyed 4WDing throughout WA and been to see some amazing sites. More trips planned.

I too had an oil leak. It was a faulty sump plug (non genuine fitted at 10K service). They refitted with a genuine part and a full belly of oil and it was all good again.

Even though I've had a few minor issues, all have been fixed under warranty at no cost. I did have to wait 2 weeks for a new sunroof and then they realised this wasn't the problem. Not a good idea to replace one of these, they're about $2500 to replace.

I'm now at 30K and planning another 4 week holiday with the camper (and the wife).
