TOTALLY correct.
I always monitor mine now thanks to Steve's PID settings, on the OBD Fusion app on either my iPhone or iPad.
I've now seen two DPF regens happen at much less than highway speeds, even continuing while stopped at red traffic lights. Both kicked off in a 70kph zone, and continued to completion despite a few stops at red lights.
I haven't had the Dec18 software fix done yet, but will do so very soon, even though I've had no DPF issues. That software fix also addresses a few other issues like the occasional stability control light on startup.

It's amazing how much "disinformation" is spread by dealers. Half of them don't have a bloody clue!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Never in my life have I seen so many different threads related to a multitude of different problems with one model of car. I have a 2914 JGC picked up in August 2013 in the 18months + of dealing with this POS(piece of sh#t) I can understand why. here is a little example of what I have had to deal with and still dealing with.

Pickup day
3 weeks late Sales rep in a hurry to get me out found damage to roof and chrome
Week 1
Dash and lights blanked out at 110km/h pitch black country road 1/2 hour to get it to start again. this happened 3 times in 6 months.

A/C freezing cold one side bloody hot the other.
Hands free phone not working.
5 times could not detect fob late for appointments.
demister only work 1/2 windscreen lucky it was drivers side.
Alarm goes off when unlocking car with fob buttons.
rear tail gate not opening with less than 5 presses
speedo and all the alarms on the dash going off at once 20mins to reset by locking and unlocking
engine warning light staying on 2 days
reverse camera not working
adjusted AC temp and CD player repeated same song until I stopped car on 45 min trip to work cant stand Pearl Jam anymore.
Auto Hi beam disabling itself causing hi beam to oncoming and leading cars.
4 times an issue with particle burn last one registered 185% full
Dealer damage to dash and trim when replacing computer and wiring
Wipers failing to go on had to stop and shut down and restart to get working.
answered phone and wipers went on full speed until call ended.

Have asked for refund and new car even asked for the paint to be changed to lemon yellow no reply and no sense of humour

This is on going and only 50% of the issues.

Anyone else beat that

I've found I have to hit my keyfob 4-5 times too - the button on the actual tailgate and inside the cabin work instantaneously though.

If you unlock doors it is 2 otherwise it is four... so in actuality it is either 3 presses of two different buttons or 4 of the same one

Keep it factual and don't post comments regarding possible fixes or other sentiments. This is more of a statistical exercise to gauge the scope of issues.

Eg
Variant ...(Laredo CRD)
Problem... (Climate control not functioning)

I will also put regular links to this thread on Jeep Au Facebook page

Thanks
My 2014 Overland diesel is due for 40k service. The dealer in Maroochydore where I bought the car new is asking $12-$1300 for the service. The dealer in Noosa quoted $998.60. Are these prices realistic? Is there an Australian supplier from whom I can buy genuine parts so I can have the car serviced at other than a dealer?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

So you don’t have an actual problem with your car, just enquiring about service cost. This would be better posted in the Service thread, see here - Jeep service costs
That is a normal price range for the 40K service, as for parts etc.. please ask in the relevant service thread.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Our 2013 (MY14) CRD GC has had rough shifts from 1-2-3 3-2-1 since new and has had pretty much every transmission flash released to try and smooth out the shifts but without much luck.

Last service (40k) it was inspected again and the dealer decided to pull the oil pan off the bottom of the transmission and found metal shavings/filings sitting in the bottom.

The result? CJD have approved a new transmission to be fitted under warranty. The cost of the new transmission for anyone interested? An eye watering $39k should you wish to purchase your own... No that's not a typo, more than half the purchase price of the car... This is the cost the dealer has told me they were quoted by CJD for the transmission and associated parts (which will be reimbursed to them). There is also a days labour on top of this just to sweeten the deal... I told the dealer he was bullshitting me but he insisted he wasn't.... Unless he was bullshitted to by CJD, this is pretty hard to believe I've got to say.

Regardless, I would advise anyone with a Jeep that have any issues regardless of how small, to report them to your dealer to ensure they are captured in the service records, just in case it turns out to be something more sinister that eventuates outside of your factory warranty period. Falling back on to these records could be a life saver if it resulted in a consumer rights claim, which is where I would have no doubt headed, had our claim not been successful if we were outside of our warranty period when this occurred.

Luckily we have a fantastic dealer who looks after us well and they are working hard to ensure the issue is resolved and has done so with all other issues we have had in the last 2 years of ownership.

Has it put me off ownership of our Jeep beyond the factory warranty period? Yes and no. The Jeep has been a fantastic car despite a few minor issues (other than the transmission!) that have all been resolved and I have to have some faith in that fact that my consumer rights would be honored if such a ludicrously expensive fault occurs outside of the warranty period... I damn well hope so anyway!
