Just clicked over 50000klm today, no issues other than a few rear boot trim issues.

After the last service the plastic engine cowling was gleaming and clean. I wondered why.
Today I removed the cover (hadn't known how easy this was before) to see if there was a source of the 'leak'.
Tracing the pipe all the way to the top of the engine I couldn't find any source of oil.
So I am thinking oil was spilt on the cowling at last service.
It then dripped along one of the ridges and some of it fell onto the pipe. Just enough to eventually settle within the braiding underneath.
They cleaned the cowling. Moped up the spilt oil.
As I'm in the middle of a big 5000km trip towing 2.7 tonnes of van, I've been particularly vigilant about checking things. Found the oil.
This explains why it's gold and not black. It must be 'new' oil!
Thanks for reading. If it's any different I'll let you know but thought it important to close the loop.
Ps. The car has performed faultlessly for the entire trip. Tows like a train.

Best bet to grab a can of degreeser and clean it all up (spray it all over and wash it all off with the hose) and then keep checking to see any problems. If u dont clean it up it makes it hard to tell if there may be an issue.

Which Stealer did the service? About to head off on our trip to Tassie towing the 2600kg van, I too have just had it's 40k service at Keema Jeep.

For us we are having a mild wet winter. 2-3 overnight 12 during the day.
Expect a few -2 and -3 in the next month.
Don't forget to deactivate your alarm when get loaded on the boat. Not much fun when you get dragged out of bed at 1am to go and turn your alarm off.

To be fair they have been a very good service centre so no names. I drive across town past other dealers to get to them. I'm a forgiving person and the fact it took five months to find I guess they actually cleaned up well or genuinely didn't know.

The jeep was brilliant during my 5000 km trip - except for a huge emu that buggered up my left hand guard!

OEM bash plates? I only received the metal plates and all the hardware Hutch. Are sure you didn't get a bonus inclusion?

Cheers,
Steve

Maybe I did, I have two carpet covers now hence why I asked, wasn't sure it was supposed to go on with the steel one for sound deadening or something like that, Anyhow didn't make any sense at the time, thanks for your reply Steve.

Ok. My theory of spilt oil is no more.
The hose continues to 'weep' just a little oil. Not enough to drip.
Found this http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=126452 and it describes my situation exactly. Anyone else having the same issue?
Still tows like a train and has been an excellent car overall.
