Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Interesting to read about the diesel filter. When our car went into limpmode I was told it was a known problem and was assured that it wouldn't happen again too.

We collected our caravan today. The Jeep towed beautifully but we noticed a smell. My husband just checked the coolant and he said it is low. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Could be a coolant leak. My Jeep had a leak that was near the exhaust manifold.
It gave off a real chemical smell as it hit the hot exhaust manifold.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Ongoing issues with my GC overland 5.7 still all software I think though the dealer doesn't know for sure or have answers (frustrating):
  • Analogue Speedo display loses all its numbers and graduations
GC dash.jpg
  • Aircon Recirculate seems to have a mind of its own - select it, stays on for what seems a random amount of time
  • Surround Sound - it allows me to select it on but about 3 seconds later it just turns off
Good news is the aircon sync hot air one side cold the other seems to be fixed.

I have the same problem with the speedometer losing its numbers. I have to turn off the car, get out, lock the doors, then get back in to reset it and then it works.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Thanks bspllc I will give that a try. I know just switching it off and then back on doesn't work. Knowing that sequence may help find the issue in the software.

Can anyone post if any of thse issues have been resolved by the dealers, or are they still outstanding?

Is there any satisfied owners out there?

Any info you have is appreciated, might save me from buying a lemon. Getting my 1k back from the dealer could be another drama.
Hi there,

this is Kumar here.
Saw your comments abound Grand chero 2014. I am keenly interested in buying GC Overland 3.6 petrol 2014 because of looks and technical gadgets in vehicle( have near nil 4WD and nil towing use).
Read negative reviews about the vehicle ( but almost all vehicles have those), needed an honest opinion about the vehicle from a private owner without any conflict of interest.
Can you please advise, are there any major issues with vehicle, are the fixes out , would you recommend the vehicle to your friends; any other points of wisdom.

Can you please reply at singaporedoctor@yahoo.com?

heaps of Thanks in advance,
Kumar.

My advice is buy one you will not be disappointed it is a fantastic vehicle. My 2014 Limited CRD now has done 3200km, problems with U-Connect and Air Con have been fixed, I have no other issues, quality of build is excellent, it is a Joy to drive everything works as it should, fuel economy is as advertised. My advice is not to get too concerned re this site as all vehicles experience some problems at one time or another. If there was such a thing as a perfect vehicle, out of 10 I would rate mine as no less than a 9.
On closing this comment, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is now Australia's largest selling 4WD, that In itself says a lot...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6 Petrol

  • Misaligned centre console door
  • TERRIBLE FM radio reception. lots of static and hiss.
  • Hot/Cold climate control issue (resolved: software update)
  • White smoke from exhaust when starting vehicle. The longer the vehicle is left between starts, the more smoke produced. Appears to be oil
  • Steering wheel shudder around 100-110kmh
  • GPS freezes when trying to enter in a specific point of interest - resolution switch off for at least 10 mins
