Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

My CRD Limited had all the usual problems u-connect (blank screen no functions), air-con, lights on in daylight conditions and an issue with engine vibration. The vehicle had only done 80km when the issues appeared on the 28/7/2013. Returned to dealers on 30/7/2013 and has been there since because of the engine vibration. The service manager has been really helpful with answering questions and additional information regarding all issues with this vehicle and they tried to reduce the vibration with a DPF forced regeneration burn but the vibration was still evident and I believe it is still under investigation by JEEP.
So to cut a very long and frustrating saga, taking over Two month that the dealership have agreed to replace the vehicle with another that should be arriving within a few weeks as they could not give me a fixed by date.
I still believe this is a great vehicle to own and drive.
DON'T HOLD BACK but maybe Jeep should have with this one.

I must be lucky, almost zero vibration on my CRD Limited, it is a very smooth engine.

Thanks to the guys at my Jeep dealer in sorting out a few warranty issues
Missing trim on ACC sensor - fixed
Misaligned trim on centre console - fixed
Fog in headlights - fixed
Loose bodywork under wheel arch - fixed
Updated HVAC controls - done
Investigated mark on rear seat from the wheel arch flares that were stored on seat during shipment - liaising with CJDA for replacement seat

They also mentioned the imminent Uconnect update and are waiting on the official copy to come from CJDA

Sounds like a nice dealer but maybe they should read the bulletin from last week. They have access to the update already and have since the 3rd.... I believe to official bulletin is the 8th.

Will,

Standard aircon issue. Blows hot one side and freezing on the other.

Front sensors go off every time I stop at the lights.

Using the Adaptive Cruise Control, when braking/slowing I get a ratcheting/cog sound which only occurs while the ACC is engaged. Normal braking/slowing does not repeat the problem.

Occasionally when I press the button to lock the car it won't lock. Only the FOB will lock it.
An update to my issues.

Aircon is fixed.

Sensors are getting worse, so much so that I have to switch them off, I almost stuffed up and dinged it whilst parking because I had forgot that I turned the sensors off. They detect that there is an object within 30cm and go off under 10kph almost all the time.

The ratcheting/cog sound(could be knocking as some have described) is happening during normal driving now. Quite annoying and embarrassing when you have others in the GC.

I think the locking issue is cause when the FOB is in the same pocket as my iPhone.

Very rough shifting in 1-2-3 in ECO mode during up and down shifts. Very noticeable and for this reason alone I would not buy a GC.

Had the screen go blank. Jumped out then back in which fixed it.

Also a vibration at low speeds in traffic, ie trying to maintain a low RPM between about 750-1100RPM in gears 3-5. I think it is a drivetrain issue.

To be honest I wouldn't recommend a GC whilst I have all these issues. I'm one very frustrated owner who feels like I have wasted my money.

My issue with most of these issues is the huge cost that we pay for Pre Delivery and why was the vehicle ever delivered with these faults
I have come to belief that pre delivery is nothing more than the dearest car wash in Australia.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Just reposting this recall that should be available sometime in November that perhaps will correct the electrical issues being experienced, in case anyone missed it in other threads.

Hey Gustlock, I get a vibration when I'm doing about 750-1100RPM on my diesel. I think it is a drivetrain issue. Is this similar to yours?

The vibration is definitely engine related as it is most noticeable when the vehicle is stationary. Haven't been informed if they have fixed it or not.The vehicle drove really nice with good shifts except when slowing down for lights, the downshift to 1st seemed a bit harsh but not on all occasions. These problems are frustrating and with the additional expenses far beyond normal warranty issues even for a new model to the purchasers. JEEP and some dealerships don't seem to be to worried but they should.

"Don't Hold Back" or maybe "There Wont Be A Next Time."

Any chance it could fix the Cruise Control Issues...hmmm...(which after reading this thread appears to be only found on the RHD CRD models...as is mine)

Laredo CRD Prod Date July 2013
Usual Air Con Issues
Autolight sensor goes nuts...headlights come on in bright sunshine.
Cruise Control have had to stop the car turn off the engine back on to get it to come back..also does not seem to brake/shift gears to slow you going down hill.

Anyone know if anyone at Chrysler looking at the cruise control issue as a known problem ? or are we just keeping it in Australia for the dealers to scratch their heads on?
