Just an update. Most of the problems ( if not all) listed have been fixed ( Thanks to Crick Auto Noosa). I think I have number 2 sorted also, the auto dimming is only a problem in the late afternoon, otherwise it works as designed through tunnels, garage parking etc. I am wondering if it's related to the time of the day as shade over the road in the morning and mid afternoon don't cause any problems with the auto dimming. Now at 4250km and everything is working as it should, fuel consumption is fantastic, exceptionally smooth CRD Limited.

Total overall is 7.8 L Per 100 km with a mixture of driving, best on a trip was 6.9, so very happy with this. My diesel Nissan Patrol averaged 10 / 11 L per 100 km, so I am saving a fair amount per tankful. It may not be making a big difference, but I have been using a fuel additive since new, did the same with the Patrol and never had an issue after 300'000 Km's of trouble free service. Would have brought another Patrol but they just can't tow the weight ( only 2400 kg).

Gforce What additive do you use ?

I remember the dealer telling me he had got best of 6.8l ...anything around 7l is excellent.
Means also less trips to get fuel..I like that.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

With only 1800kms so far, my best is 6.9 L/100kms from Narre Warren to ballarat return.
Will be going to mt Gambia in a couple of weeks towing our new van 2800kgs so will be interesting to see what I get. Previously I had the Hemi 5.7 towing a jayco poptop 2250kgs and averaged 20L/100kms.

The brand I have always used is Diesel Power by Chemtech. Most Auto shops have it.

No particular brand, whoever has the best price ( at the moment $1.60 litre is the norm). But usually it's Caltex ( fuel dockets), some BP as it's local.

Does it actively discourage it, or just not mention it?

No way would this cause any problems with warranty, as a matter of fact I think a manufacturer would love it as it also stops the dreaded diesel fungus from growing.
Also the amount of additive is very small, 1 litre treats 1000 litres of diesel.
PS: need to go to our general thread for any further conversations as this page is our problem reporting page.

Excerpt from owner manual (us version):

"The use of fuel additives,.....is not recommended......Fuel system damage or vehicle perforance problems resulting from the use of such fuels or additives is not the responsibility of the manufacturer."
