Australian GC owners please post problems with your vehicle here.
Keep it factual and don't post comments regarding possible fixes or other sentiments. This is more of a statistical exercise to gauge the scope of issues.

Eg
Variant ...(Laredo CRD)
Problem... (Climate control not functioning)

I will also put regular links to this thread on Jeep Au Facebook page :)

Thanks

Our GC developed a creak from the rear of the interior a month or so ago, and it generally only occurs when traversing uneven surfaces such as pulling into a steep driveway on the angle. It has been at the dealer for the last few days getting part of the sun roof replaced as per the TSB on this issue, and the dealer informed me late this arvo that it hasn't fixed the creak. The dealer has had to keep it for another day to await further instructions from CJD on a fix.

I'm curious to know whether anyone else has had a similar experience and what the fix may have been?

2013 GC SRT8
1. Throttle body replaced after stopping dead on freeway 100 kph to read stop. 6 weeks at dealer. No idea and no parts
2 fenders on wheel arches all came loose on each wheel. Fixed eventually with silastic

3. Currently have random dead throttle. Mostly after coasting down hill or just after filling tank

And perelli tyres now quoted to be $1025 each and no stock in Australia for two months.

Brembo genuine pads been on order at dealer now for 2 months

When they stripped the interior, they placed the sub-frame under some stresses and noticed some additional movement in the rear structure. Some spot welds to strengthen and all was good. If this is the same for you, it only happened at slow speed when articulating uneven ground. When I had the camper on the back, it wasn't there hence my theory that it was in the back frame that needed looking at. They were a little quiet to fully explain the repair, but it hasn't made the noise since.

No no noise for us, just an oil leak.

I've now towed nearly 20K with the camper behind. I was wondering if this might of caused my problem. I've also enjoyed 4WDing throughout WA and been to see some amazing sites. More trips planned.

I too had an oil leak. It was a faulty sump plug (non genuine fitted at 10K service). They refitted with a genuine part and a full belly of oil and it was all good again.

Even though I've had a few minor issues, all have been fixed under warranty at no cost. I did have to wait 2 weeks for a new sunroof and then they realised this wasn't the problem. Not a good idea to replace one of these, they're about $2500 to replace.

I'm now at 30K and planning another 4 week holiday with the camper (and the wife).

Well it's been running absolutely great for the last few months with NO major issues. Have been noticing a slight increase in Diesel clatter during its warm up cycle but disappeared once reaching normal operating temperature, so was not to concerned. Then yesterday after a 100km drive, turned it off for about 10 mins and restarted with a much louder clatter than normal, began to drive off and the clatter became excessive (again sounding like an engine with collapsed lifters) and was noticeably down on power for about 10-15 seconds until it all came good. This was an issue I had before and had the updated done for detonation that re-programmed the ECU earlier in the year and has been fine since for the excessive clatter. Due for it's 20K this month so back to the Service Department I guess?

Yesterday i had the Service Air Suspension light come on at start up. After driving noticed it was still on and the Air suspension would not raise or lower. Also the cruise control would turn on but not lock a speed.
The orange warning light on the dash stayed on as well.

I was booked in to get the sump plate fitted yesterday anyway so the dealer was able to squeeze me in and put the computer onto the car. It looks like it will need a new Steering Control Module (SCM)
Luckly again that it is in stock and in sydney so getting it fitted this morning.

Slight delay on my long weekend away 4wding but hopefully should be back on the road by lunch time.

Throttle body service light on at 3000 D said a hose had come off
Throttle body service light and blocked exhaust warning at 6000k. D did a diesel burn to clear exhaust, using my diesel, then found a exhaust temp sensor was faulty...3 days later.
Had recall number 4
Changed plates to "RECALL" today.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - San Diego

1st: When I plug in my phone to get a charge while listening to Bluetooth music, it will automatically start to play through the USB.....no Problem.
although my phone doesn't seem to recognize that music is playing so my phone wont show a playlist......I have no issue with that.
the PROBLEM is, after a song or two (or for the first three months, track 2 on Drake's, "Never be the same" mixtape) it freezes up, and remains that way for hours. When this happens both Bluetooth and USB refuse to play leaving me the use of regular, XM radio or the CD player.
What's up with that?
It is to the point now where [god forbid] i must charge my phone, I will switch it immediately from the auto USB once plugged to anything but in fear of freezing my music.

2nd: I live in SUnny California, and after 6000 mi. I changed my oil (filter, reset monitoring etc..) and now at 8836, my oil gauge says that I've reached 51% oil life, which is lower than when I changed it, 2-3 months ago.
What's up with that? Is that normal?
From work to home and back is less than 6 miles, and I don't cruise too tough...................help please.

3rd: Now when driving over my complexes speed bumps, my overhead light will come on [chime included]. I do not fly over them, so
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

If you don't have Quadra Lift, you have it.

Actually, that is technically wrong as QL will also level the load. It's standard spec on all Aus 4x4s.

Hello Everyone

Newbie to the site and to the GC. Just purchased a MY14 limited CRD and have put a mere 200km on the clock and the problems have begun.

Driving home from the dealer after taking delivery, I noticed a valve lash type sound at any speed over 60kmh under load. Back to the dealer, get one of the "techs" to come for a road test and his diagnosis is noisy injectors. Has anyone here had to have their injectors replaced due to them being noisy.

After hours of research I have come up with zero. Not sure this diagnosis is correct and something else in the chain is causing this tappet like sound.

It disappears when your off the pedal and under certain throttle loads. Only happens when the engine is warm.

Any info would be great.

Cheers
Jim :)

I do agree that when it's cold the diesel clatter is normal to an extent. It has become louder than normal in the last few weeks when coming to temp. However when warm and re-started and goes thru the sequence of sounding like some piece of 1950's farm machinery the question must be asked. Strange with my vehicle that after the re-program mid year, even during the cold start cycle that there has been no evidence of the excessive diesel clatter (detonation?) until recent as is again happening.
I will ask the question then: What has been changed between the 2011/2013 diesel and the 14/15 as there is a definite difference in diesel noise between the two (Mates 12 NO PROBLEMS), the 14 being generally better unless doing it's THING?

Tyre pressure warning worked a treat today, warning came up that the RH rear had lost pressure (down to 1.5 bar). Drove to a local tyre dealer and he found an imbedded screw in the tyre.
Love this Jeep...

Now that the dpf has been replaced at Jeep's expense on my new 2014 Grand Cherokee, it has been working well. It amazes me to find all these people on different forums who think it is somehow acceptable for the regen to fail because of not taking it on long highway drives. Look, it's a 4WD! Here in Australia if you're caught on a rough outback trail 1000 km from nowhere, and you can't go faster than 20km/hr, it is physically impossible to drive at Highway speeds.

That's what 4WDs are used for - for outback driving. I've done a lot of it. If this kind of thing happens when driving in a remote location, it's potentially very dangerous.

In short, it's not a 4WD for Australian conditions. One such fault in 300 vehicles is unacceptable. The dealer told me it was made in Canada. This was a lie. It's designed in Canada and built by Neolithic era Yanks who are still using feet and inches. They don't even have international quality standards over there despite being Italian owned.

I bought a Jeep........... Sucked in.

Mine, and many others, failed at regeneration even with extensive highway driving. Mine too was finally replaced some time ago now, and since then has worked faultlessly.

Hi All,
I've had the 10,000Km service done and all updates done as well. I had the air con on low today then switched driver's side up to 16 deg and had very hot air blowing for 10-15 sec. Not pleasant! I've told the dealer about this after I had it in to get the towing wiring checked. It works ok when the techs look a tit but of course not when I use it. Also the radio will suddenly not turn on when the car is started. I have to restart for it to work.

Any suggestions for the aircon given it's coming into summer?
