2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Australian GC owners please post problems with your vehicle here.
Keep it factual and don't post comments regarding possible fixes or other sentiments. This is more of a statistical exercise to gauge the scope of issues.

Eg
Variant ...(Laredo CRD)
Problem... (Climate control not functioning)

I will also put regular links to this thread on Jeep Au Facebook page

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Laredo CRD. 4-13 build. U-Connect version 13.15.4

1. Problem with the cabin heating and cooling. When synced is hot on one side and cooler on the other. When not synced temperatures fluctuate and differ even though the same temperature is selected for each side.

2. Outside temperature display stops working and displays dashes instead of the temperature. Fixes itself after a couple of minutes.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Overland 3.0 CRD (less than 200kms)Issues all seem to centre around the Uconnect system.
1. Climate control blows cold passenger side and warm/hot driver side even though temps set the same.
2. Control panel randomly switching off and going blank then restarting itself back to welcome screen - sometimes several times in a row.
3. Radio issue - no sound and appeared semi- frozen or "hung" like a PC. Tried everything to get sound active and was showing AM stations whilst in FM mode - in any case could not get any response or sound. Stopped car and switched off. Restarted car and still the same. After parking and 2 hour delay came good again.
4. Reverse camera screen blanked out whilst reversing out driveway - system then blank for a bit and then into reboot/ restart routine and waited for camera vision to return.
5. Navigation compass on a few occasions has indicated incorrect directions. After a while comes good again.

1) air conditioning - one side very hot one side very cold even though the same temperatures or only 1 degree difference
2) front heated seats - hi temperature too hot... low seems to not provide any heat
3) connection of ipod via usb - seems stop starty.... and delays with song graphics appearing on screen

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Hey All
Granite Limited 3.0L CRD
Just clocked over 1,600kms Saturday 3rd August
Problems all to do with U-connect:
** Same as others with aircon blowing hot one side and cold on the other no matter what configuration chosen - sometimes corrects itself.
** Voice Recognition (VR) works reasonable with phone commands but does not recognise commands for any other function such as climate control, music etc.
** Sat Nav froze up yesterday in a settings screen - could not back out or change even when turned off the car. Had to reboot the U-connect and then OK.
** Should be able to leave headlights on AUTO setting day & night, but twice the lights have suddenly changed to night mode while in bright sunlight - headlights came on and dash lights dimmed. Similar has occurred when drive under heavy shade which is normal, but then the headlights do not turn off when back out in the sunshine. Have to change dial to OFF to fix.
** Seat heating in LOW mode does not heat the (driver's) seat at all. HIGH mode seems to work OK. Steering wheel heater seems to behave itself.
** I have my music on USB stick. This has been OK until last Friday when the track playing was different to the track showing on the screen - seemed to be a couple of tracks behind (out of sync)
** AM radio was completely silent when turned car on - could not change to FM. The media was playing as normal but radio dead as do-do. Switched off engine and restarted - the radio went back to normal.

Note that I have had to reboot U-connect several times and this seems to correct the malfunctions straight away except for air con. Hope this has covered all malfunctions for most people!!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

My 2014 GC CRD Laredo delivered June 28
** 5 days later screen and instrument lights would not turn off after exiting car and locking it for the night with the key fob - battery flat the next day. Jump started but dealer couldn't find problem and car returned as problem disappeared. 5 days later problem reappeared in afternoon so off to dealer an hour later and problem still present at dealers - dealer installed a "software patch" -car returned but problem reappeared 4 days later and next day battery flat again -car jump started, returned to dealer but again it disappeared at dealers - car still with dealers. Seems that when the battery is flattened and car is jump started problem disappears, allbeit temporarily.
** when cruise control is on and set, then "set+" button pressed to increase set speed, cruise turns itself off and can't be turned on again unless car is stopped and engine is turned off and on again.
Car has been with dealers for total of 19 days so far.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

Laredo diesel with ql and ora2.
4 days and 650km old.

I was driving with cruise control on at 100kph. Then wanted to speed up to 110 so press and hold +button, after about two or three seconds, cruise control disappeared. Tried to turn it on again, no work. pulled over, turn engine off, got off the car and lock the car with remote, then start again, cruise control came back on to normal.
I tried the second time, it happened exactly the same.
I don't believe it is normal.
Apparently, as long as I don't press and hold + button, It is all good.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

GC Limited - CRDPur 27th July 13 Current Speedo read 480 Km's.

1) Air con issues, cold on pass side and hot on drivers side. Also erratic as currently blowing strongly on pass side and almost no air on drivers side. AC set to auto mode at 19 deg.

2) When driving in full sunlight the headlamps came on and the dash dimmed to night mode, no apparent reason, switch is set to auto.

3) Uconnect working perfectly when parking veh in garage, on return and starting the veh the Uconnect would not come on, totally blank screen
Had to reset by pressing and holding the Tune and Mute buttons.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia
GC Laredo CRD, pur 5 July, 2400km on the clock

1) Air con issues, one side cold, the other hot. The issue reverses sides if changing modes between auto/manual. Also the driver side door vent always keeps blowing air even though any other mode of air vent is selected. For example if I just need hot air to be coming on feet mode vent, the corner driver door vent still keeps blowing. Weird

2) When playing songs from my iPhone via Bluetooth, U-Connect sometimes freezes on the Bluetooth mode and even though I select other modes like FM etc. it shows mode change but keeps playing songs from Bluetooth mode.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Problems - Australia

CRD Laredo delivered 17 July, now done 522kms

1. Evic display disappeared (only happened once so far)
2. Climate control has a mind of its own - eg both sides set at 21c but sometimes blows excessive heat at one side, and at different times.
3.Auto headlights sometimes come on even on a bright sunny day. The dash backlight also sometimes does not come on during the day. I'm not sure if the backlight is supposed to be on during the day but when it is not, the speedo, gauges and LCD screen are almost impossible to read. Whether the backlight comes on or off appears to be independent to how bright it is outside.
4. Auto headlight dimmer sometimes does not switch on.
5. The front speakers sometimes sound crackly when listening to AM radio.
6. A dull, clunking sound when riding over speed humps at slow speed.
7. A vibration type of rattle behind the drivers side of the dash board at idle.
8. Heated seats seem very warm, even on low – not sure if this is normal
9. Lower outside trim on rear door coming adrift.
