Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

I just got my Jeep back after the garage spent 2 hours on the update. I don't see a difference in the problems I've been experiencing, however, it's at least starting now. Star noted that they have no knowledge of the "not starting'' issue that I experienced. Radio on FM is still full of static and XM cuts out still. It's needs to be replaced. They haven't mentioned yet how they're going to take care of the spotty paint issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

My 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland has had the service called for N58-13. All seemed well for several weeks until yesterday when, once again, the analog speedometer blacked out. The digital speedometer display worked properly.

Between Chrysler and my local Jeep dealer, I cannot decide which is more incompetent.

Sergio Marchionne, what is your cell phone number?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

I think the dealers are taking a lot of heat for things that are out of their control. With all this computer stuff, the dealer must use the equipment they have to buy from Chrysler and use the software Chrysler provides. At the dealer level, they can't start rewriting software.

When I had the recall done I said to the service manager that it seemed like Chrysler was still guessing. He rolled his eyes and said, "no comment".

I'm not saying that dealers always get it right, but things are not the same as they used to be.

I agree that dealers should not be held responsible for Chrysler's failings. On the other hand, I was appalled that my Jeep dealer in a brand new facility seems clueless about supporting IT. I should also mention that my last vehicle was an Acura and I well I was treated by the Acura dealer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

Several months ago my early build 2014's dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, took it to the dealer and they "tightened some connections." Just got the recall in the mail but I am in no hurry to go in and have them mess with anything. Like others have said, I'll wait until they iron out the kinks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

Had the recall work done on my Jeep GC yesterday; they also completed 3 TSBs that applied to my Jeep. Mine is an early build (2/13) GC; never had the "Christmas tree" lights on my dash but it was blank once when I started it a few weeks ago - shut it off and restarted and it came back on. Don't notice anything different after the work done on it yesterday. When I dropped it off, service advisor said they'd update the radio software too - when I told him I already did, he looked at me like I was crazy and said it's "something we do to every Jeep that comes in". I said they're welcome to check the software version on it, but don't change it. They didn't.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

My dealer service called me last week, said I needed to come in for the recall, transmission update, and a radio update. Had it all done on Monday with my first oil change. They are 1 rev. behind on the radio update, I did not bother to tell them. So far all is well.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

I guess they don't read the TSB very closely:

CAUTION: The customer may have already updated there radio. If the software is at or higher then the levels listed above, this service action has been
completed. Use the proper LOP (18-60-02-AJ) listed on this RRT to close
this service action.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

I took mine in for the recall fix this morning. They called me at 5 pm and told me they have tried it 3 times and it has failed each time. They are going to keep trying and hopefully it will work tomorrow. One interesting bit of information they told me was about 3 out of 10 recalls that they do have the issue with the fix failing 3-5 times before it finally works. Let's hope they get it working tomorrow or I will be asking for another Summit to drive until they get it fixed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Recall Notice N58-13 - Notification

As others have noted in this thread, performing the recall work changed my remaining oil life indicator to 0%. It was time to change my oil anyway; when I did that today and went through the reset procedure I noticed the first time I did it the indicator changed back to what it was before the recall work was done. Had to do the procedure again to get it to 100% life. So, if you have the recall work done but aren't about to change your oil; just do the reset procedure (foot off brake; turn ignition to run position; press accelerator pedal fully 3 times within 10 seconds; turn ignition off) once and the remaining oil life indicator should be back to where it was.
