Greetings: I have a 2014 JGC Eco Diesel with 23k miles. This morning on my way to work after about 30 min of mostly highway miles, I was stopped at a long red light. I noticed what I think was steam accumulating in the passenger compartment. It had no significant smell, and seemed to be coming from under the passenger seat. I pulled off the road, and was able to see that the steam was now coming rather strongly from under the hood on the passenger side rear corner. I opened the hood with the engine still running, and there was a strong plume of steam coming up from between the passenger rear corner of the engine and the shock mount.
Shut off the vehicle, and could see no obvious source of the steam, or leaking fluid. I restarted the vehicle, and there was no steam, so I drove the last 2 miles to work. In the parking lot I let the engine idle for about 10 minutes, and turned up the heat to high on the HVAC, but it didn’t happen again. Engine temp stayed normal throughout.
Anyone have any ideas what happened? It’s got me concerned. My wife drives my son around a lot in the vehicle, and I don’t want them getting stranded!
