I was one of those with massive issues in an early build Summit. I am happy to report that since Scott Miller came from Detroit to fix mine in late April. I have not had any issues at all. I love my Summit.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

I ordered my Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit in April. It took me 2 months before I received it, because it sat in holding for 5 of the 8 weeks. I was told it was an issue with the motor size I bought. The first thing I noticed was a missing CD Player. Keep in mind I ordered it loaded. Evidently, this became an option the week I placed my order and was never listed on the order screen at the dealer. I saw the screen and everything was checked. I bought the biggest iPod and loaded every single CD onto it. The FM radio does not come in and its constant static, the XM cuts out frequently and I've always used this in previous vehicles with no issues in my area. I have smudge spots all over the vehicle under the clear coat which you can see in the right lighting and angle. I also have a clunking in the rear end that we originally thought was the transmission and now think may be the hill assist (even though turned off) and that the brakes aren't releasing until in 2nd gear. I also have the 8.4AN radio, but don't have a lot of the issues stated in the post, but I've also had 12 or so updates since I've owned it so maybe that's why. I paid 55k for mine cash and can't say that I'm impressed at all. I sold a winter time 2007 Hummer H2 and summertime 2011 Cadillac CTS to try and get down to one vehicle and regret choosing a Jeep. My dealer has been great, but they don't know how to fix my problem, so I just keep taking it back for updates. I hate the thought of my brand new vehicle having to be re-painted so I haven't even touched this issue yet. I already want to trade it in on something else.

What all was wrong and what all did he fix?

Are the later builds still having issues?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

With all the updates, none of them has fixed my issues. Radio static still consistent, XM cuts out, transmission or brakes still making clunking noise in the rear end after stopping. Like I said, I still haven't done anything about the paint, as I wanted the other issues dealt with first. I really don't want a brand new 55k vehicle re-painted.

Some things that I would "check" (or select) to be on, would then 5 seconds later, uncheck themselves as you watched. The salesman confirmed all of my issues and the service manager got involved. They contacted Chrysler and they have no answer. They swapped another radio from another one they had that seemed to work better But when it was put in my car, it acted up the same way. The dealer unwound my deal and gave me another car after about 10 days. Now I just got the new one yesterday, and its doing very similar things! I have to think others are having these issues.
I purchased my Summit diesel 2 weeks ago and driving off the lot a lot of the issues you mention occurred. I customized my settings and then the next time I drove it a lot of the settings had changed and some were missing. My main problems are traffic key missing, climate control will not retain settings, and keeps the interior warmer than it is set to, wheel and seat heating comes on even if the vehicle is already warm, active braking not working. GPS has lost track of where the vehicle is. Every day of my 2 weeks of ownership its been something. I told Chrysler they could have the vehicle back and they said absolutely not.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

I had all of the above and more. I HIGHLY recommend you seek out your states lemon laws and start following the requirements for them NOW. That was the only way I got Chrysler to buy back my POS. No matter what they say there are way too many issues with this SUV.. Run Now.

Start keeping every receipt, track all mileage back and for to the dealer, etc.. It's a bitch but with enough documentation you can win easily.. Don't get pissed at the dealer, this isn't their fault and a raving customer will only damage your situation. Don't get mad get legal!!!!

If you have enough to file a claim under your lemon laws file notice with your dealer and tell them to contact Chryslers impartial services.. It is totally in Jeeps best interest to buy your car back. If they buy it back it is simply a used vehicle they can wholesale to some sucker. If you go through the pain of the lemon law court case Jeep is stuck with a car that has a salvage title.

Unfortunately it's a little different in Canada. However I'm keeping track of everything and I'm making sure the dealer notes all the issues on the work order. I know it's not the dealers fault. I've owned GCs since they came out in 1993 - that was a horrible year for problems. Since then it's been ok - my 2008 was mostly reliable - not so sure about 2014. 'The most awarded SUV ever' is going to get some not so nice awards. One guy called from Chrysler to tell me I was just going to have to learn to live with the problems! How's that for customer service.
