Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

If it smells bad, I'd guess gear oil. Very distinctive odor.

I'm not seeing it on the Uconnect update site. Where did you hear about this?

My dealer called to tell me. You have to call your dealer and they can check for you. Or you can call uconnect directly. They will let you know about it, at least I think they would. I know it is reliable info though because my dealer read off the releae notes to me included in the update

Call uconnect ?? You lost me.

I googled a couple sites that might provide an individual access to updates.

Here's one:

Man, all this is just scary. I beginning to think I am lucky as the 8.4" radio option for the Laredo is not available till June. That held me off from ordering it. Now, I'm not sure that I want a 2104 JGC at all.

Do you know what version of software is that? I'm currently on 13.10. Some NAV settings will not save like showing directions in cluster or speed limit warnings. Not a big deal but driving me nuts.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

Just returned from a trip in my new Summit where I knew exactly where to go but used the NAV just to check it out. I liked it's features EXCEPT the main one which was that it would've had me turn the wrong way several times!! How can I ever trust it on a trip where I DON'T know where I'm going?

I think a lot of Nav systems are like that. Would it have taken you somewhere else entirely or just a way you wouldn't go? Our Acura was infuriating that way. I trusted Google Navigation far far more than the Acura. I don't know how much control over settings the Uconnect NAV gives you, but perhaps you can tweak the time vs. Distance, things like that?

Aren't ALL nav systems flawed in this way? I've used several different ones - a dedicated Garmin unit, Google nav on a Droid phone, IPhone nav - and none of them ever gives me the most direct route TO AND FROM MY OWN HOUSE! I still keep a good ol' road atlas wedged in beside my driver's seat, because in my mind there has yet to be a truly useful nav app implemented by anyone.
