Almost 3 weeks and no reoccurance. Went 2.5 weeks after the first PCM fix until it showed up again, so maybe in a week or two I'll feel more definitive about it.

The MOST disappointing part about this is that sometimes the Dealer does not diagnose the correct item and replaces the wrong thing and or misses a step. It is the most common problem of reoccurrence.

Did the do the EXACT same repair both times?

No no, I didn't write that clear. Chrysler apparently told them to do the PCM fix first (wrong one), ABS fix came second (jury is still out).

OK, I was not referring to your dealer specifically but your example is actually good as well.

Often Chrysler will tell them to go after the most likely cause full well knowing that there may need to be another fix applied. TAC will explain this most times but it sometimes gets lost in the TAC to Tech, Tech to Advisor, Advisor to Customer transfer. Usually that is a real communication problem.

I have been involved in some of these conversations that included many replacement parts and an eventual buy back of the vehicle. So I have seen first hand the translation errors between what Chrysler is instructing and the customer gets.

I just wanted you all to know that there are no less than 4 or 5 Star Cases that could relate to the "Christmas Tree" and most of them have nothing to do with each other plus really only 2 of them have been somewhat common. I wanted to be clear that the information is there.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

There is obviously an issue with the CanBus in some '14s. Whether it is caused by a faulty abs module or whether "something else" is causing the bus interface (improbable values) to fail is something that only Chrysler knows.

Would be interesting to see if my smart phone can show the MPH and other values when the dash is out. (ODB-II BT dongle, $20; Torque App for Android $5).

However since my '12 has had zero issues I can't (maybe it knows I am watching...).

ps Since Chrysler has fixed the Sevice Manual issues with the CD, I can look up the error codes from my Tablet.

No Christmas tree here. First time today the TFT was totally without power - no display. The Heat gauge, gas gauge and TAC where non functional as well ... took it straight to the dealer and let them see first hand. Got out to let them have it for diagnostics, opened the passenger door and it started working again ... no codes where found. So far it is still working. Taking it back on Saturday for the second time on headlight auto sensor. Setting headlights on Auto isn't working as expected. First time in was a bad sensor. Worked for about two weeks and now back to having to be facing directly into the sun for them to turn off. Needless to say, they stay on pretty much all the time unless I just turn them off.

Got truck back today. RO says they did the PCM flashes for the P0456 and P0606 errors (i don't even qualify for the 606 error). Thats it. I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

My 2014 GC speedometer was black last month and
a restart would not cause it to come back on. A restart
after exiting the vehicle and getting back in cleared it
up. Our dealer checked it out and found no codes. They
reset it for original factory defaults. After a month and a
half it is still working fine.

It's a known fact that after shutdown, you must open and close the door for the electronics to completely recycle. Think of it as rebooting.

Just drive home and at 2200 miles I got the message in my center cluster..air suspension system cooling down please stand by. This is after a speedometer blackout last week that cured itself after a restart and no issues since. Does this sound familiar to anyone else??

I have seen it on a few occasions and reported it. No codes were thrown and it is not reproducible on demand. Saw it yesterday which was the first I had seen it in a while.
