Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

Two weeks ago, retired Chrysler Executives told a similar story of a new Ram Owner. Apparently Chrysler did buy back the vehicle. Very sad I have similar problems with the 8.4 inch touch screen. does Chrysler understand the phrase massive recall/

A massive recall would be a waste of time ...
... until they are sure they have the problem solved 100%.

With so much information being funneled through the "radio", the problems could be caused by any module that reports to it. It could be as simple as a 0 where a 1 should be in a million lines of code, or an intermittent breakdown of a small component in one of the modules.

Once you a problem you need to find someone who speaks the language of whatever third world country where the component was made.

Unreal that so many people are still experiencing this crap. As someone who has been through all this and then some, and also one going through a full buyback as I speak, I am appalled that the weekly flash updates haven't eventually resolved everything. I WANT to believe I just got a lemon, but my lord, there are a lot of lemons in the bunch!

If I might ask, what was your build date?

Surprised there was that early if a build on the lot that late. I ordered last if January, built and delivered at the end of March and have had one issue after another. The last one that I was aware of was resolved end if November. Dealer has been exemplary in getting things fixed but at the same time their hands are tied by Chrysler as what they can and can not do. After two techs from Detroit were brought in things started getting resolved.

Yeah, after the flurry of nonsense erupted (one day into ownership), the GM at my dealership decided to tell me this was the very first 2014 WK they got into stock.

Whoopee.

Tom what were some of the issues you have had? I have a march build summit also and just wanted to compare notes. Mine has been in a few times also, all resolved so far except the external temp sensor issue that we know they are working on a fix for.

Garage
Headlamps not turning off when set to auto
Phone needs service
Brakes coming on for no reason
Sunroof leaking
Dash going dark
Paint issues
Dash rattle (extra bracket)
Tailgate not responding to two clicks
Air suspension cooling down message
There was a tailgate alignment issue but never brought that up as it wasn't touching and the other issues were more electrical/mechanical

It was in several times for the headlights and phone requires service. A couple of times for the sunroof leak and the other issues. Paint was a bit longer as they had to farm that out.

As of the end of November everything that was not intermittent or the alignment problem has been addressed

Chrysler field techs told my dealer that my WK was the 20th built for 2014, which also explains why mine had mismatched interior parts, like many others on this forum claim to have experienced with theirs.

You're the first person I've heard mention that. If it was an issue, its a long long gone thing of the past at this point.
