Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

Dealer just called and said that there were fuses that were not seated correctly.. I didn't have paper on me so I did not write down the codes, but I will get them when I go to pick it up. I remember reading in another thread that this happened to someone else and they said it was the fuses, and it should be a delivery checklist item.....

Just recently purchased a 2014 JGC Limited, and had the same identical experience. Have you had any further occurences of this event?

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

Happened to me on day 2. I took it back and they said it was a low voltage issue. My car had less than 100 miles on it. They said the battery didnt have time to charge since leaving the factory?? they reset it and now works great.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

Happened to me last week. Air bag system failure, brake failure, anti-lock system failure, 4 wheel drive failure - all in the dashboard display upon start-up, stayed on while I drove - drove fine. Shut it off, called wife, meet me at the dealer, restarted, all clear. I stopped into the dealer, they said "computer fart", if it does it again, try to drive it directly here, we'd like to hook the computer up when everything is lit up to see what the Jeep computer sees. Also, they said, they've had several come back with electrical/electronic issues, they've been getting code from Chryco to fix, but all are BETA fixes, not for distribution. I don't know, I might take the new beta code over what seems to be beta code in it right now. All grounds are tight on mine.

This is slightly off topic for this thread but where are the grounds we should check? I can't find the post that IDs them.

On the right (passenger side) frame rail, very near the front. There are 2 braided ground straps bolted to the top of the rail.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

I was bringing my car in to the dealer this morning (had an appointment to fix Uconnect and QuadraLift issues) and got the Christmas lights when I started the car. The dealer told me they have fixed the Uconnect (software issue) but had to order a new module for the instrument cluster. I won't have the car for a few days but hopefully the new module will resolve the issue and the other problems have been corrected.

By the way, I only have 470 miles on the Jeep.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

I would also check the wiing going to the battery under the passenger seat. Unfortunatly owners are not permitted to buy a wiring diagram for their cars so cannot say exactly what to check.

Did buy the "factory service manual" CD for $160 delivered and is more of an expanded owner's manual using software seemingly from the last century. Does tell me how to replace the air filter which is not in the OM but a complete wiring diagram is explicitly not included.

Also runs only with Windows/IE and not the latest versions. Have to allow "active content" and if running an anti-virus it takes whole minutes from engine selection to contents display. CJF/TechAuthority has been promising a fix since April. RSN.

The battery and grounds have been culprits in alot of owners issues. They all need to be tightened.

Re: 2014 Jeep Overland - Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

I am in Cary, NC, and would like to hear if anyone has taken their Jeep to Autopark Jeep in Cary for this issue. I'm a newby here and found the forum when I searched to see if anyone else had seen this. I put my two-month-old Summit in the shop yesterday with this issue. I sent a link to this thread to my service advisor. I'll post my progress later today.

Maybe yes, maybe no. These symptoms generally disappear before the dealer ever sees the vehicles. Jeep chose to blame the ground because there were some cars that came off the line with one loose ground strap. There was never a code that specifically pointed to that bad ground. Jeeps position was check the ground because we can't think of anything else.

The idea that the ground, or multiple grounds, caused this issue is only "fact" if you believe that if you read it on the internet it must be true.

I found a loose negative battery terminal, long after my problem appears to be fixed. I don't know if the Jeep came from the factory that way, or if the dealer disconnected it when they replaced the PCM, and left it loose.
