Cut the parking brake to make it shorter?

Look at a Toyota Kluger foot operated parking brake. Same position but raises out if the way when released, far better.

I walked away no injuries... 65MPH into an escape. i know it isnt as solid as a concrete wall... but still... not a scratch or sore muscle.

Wow!!! Glad you were ok! Fortunately it looks like most of the impact was fairly center throughout the front with a little extra emphasis on the pasenger side. Which is where the jeep excels in it's test ratings.

Was the escape just stopped in the road or something?

Well I know this is an old thread but Saturday we had a 45 mph offset crash due to another driver running a stop sign. I sustained no injuries as a passenger, my wife had a bruise on her left arm. Our 2014 GC was amazing and kept us safe. Thank you Jeep engineers! Likely totaled so we will be looking at a 17 GC as a replacement.
