I have a 2014 JGC Overland. The other day I got in my Jeep and when I pushed the ignition button the Active Head Restraint Headrest activated and knocked me in my head. I reset it by sitting in the back seat and pulling down in and down again. As soon as I start the car it goes off every time. I don't understand why, I have never been in an accident and its only the drivers side. I have about 43k miles on it already and I'm worried Jeep isn't going to cover it. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Wow so there are many examples of this on the web. Same thing 2014 Grand Cherokee Oveeland where the passenger side activated. Not exactly sure when it happened but noticed it wasn’t seated any longer. As I was getting my car serviced they’d indicated it can’t be fixed and needed replacement, 800$. Interestingly enough they claimed it had been damaged as the reason they wouldn’t repair which is a total falsification. Zero damage, like new car, key safety feature deploys without cause. Interestingly enough there was a major recall on other Jeep Chrysler vehicles however not for mine. Called Jeep and they stated dealer told them it had been damaged and was taking them at their word. I’d asked them if I could send photos and an explanation of the supposed damage and was dismissed entirely. This is the 3rd Jeep I’ve owned and will now be my last if this is how they treat loyal customers. Has anyone had success getting them to resolve what is an obvious defect in the part?

I spoke with an executive over at Chrysler that i ran into at work. He told me it's a problem they were having and if they gave me any trouble to give him a call and he would make sure they took care of me. They tried to tell me 600 for a new headrest. car was maybe a year old at that point but over the miles for warranty and when I told the dealer I spoke with an executive and what he said they called me back 5 min later and said they would cover it. Never had to actually call the guy. They just changed their mind and fixed it for free. It was a recall on the model before but it carried over in 2014 and they didnt want to admit it. Leson learned is never by the first years redisign of any car. Wait for everyone else to buy the new model and work out the bugs.

Not certain I am going to have the same success. The dealer told them it had been damaged which it hadn’t and No Idea why he felt compelled to tell them that. The case is opened with Chrysler Jeep appears to be coded so my next step is the NHSTA complaint and to spread the word online about the dealership and the headrest. Gladly take the Executives contact if you have it
