2014 JGC Recall/Phone Needs Service

Thought I'd post this experience incase the info is useful to anybody...

Had my '14 JGC Limited in the shop to sort a loose fitting fuell filler door and take another shot at the "phone requires service" message. While the dealer had it, they performed a recall service related to a loose wire and ABS software. They told me they needed to order a new radio to resolve my "phone needs service" message. But I've found that, since I picked the car up, the message has not returned. It was showing up every time I started the car.

Makes me wonder if the recall sorted the phone issue.

BTW- The fuel filler door fits perfectly now. Dealer did a great job.

Can you please describe your fuel door problem and how they fixed it?

Mine does not sit flush with the body (the whole top half). Was that similar to your issue?

Yes. The filler door wasn't flush with the body. When closed, I could rock it up and down. There was a gap between the door's outer panel and the gasket around the housing behind it that allowed water to get in.

The dealer found that the latch mechanism was warped and there was a crack in the fuel filer line. Took a while for the parts to arrive, but it's perfect now.
