Exclamation 2014 JGC Summit Diesel Fuel Tank Cracked....???

Anyone have a cracked fuel tank on a 2014 JGC Summit Diesel 30kmiles??? Here's a video I sent to the dealer after I dropped it off. Last time I was in they said it was "normal".

3-5 days on a new tank. Its been doing this since new when full. Dealer also told me the current tank needs to be almost empty because they have no place to store diesel....I'm not sure this is right either, they must have a place or just charge Jeep to fill it up.

Thoughts?

Also the same dealer that the oil changes are always different price

Clearly not normal, and I would prefer to never deal with a dealer that said any type of leaking fluid is just normal. Once you know when it's going in to get this fixed, make sure you only top up the fuel as you need it to keep the level low. I would be happier knowing it wasn't stored poorly, I doubt they have to store for reuse many fluids removed from a car. They are removing and replacing them, not storing them.

What do you mean, oil changes are a different price? Do you mean the scheduled services? If so then yes they alter in price as they have different requirements.

As for the video:

First oil change was $160, second was $136 now they quoted me $177. Price shouldn't vary that much. Same dealer and every time I drop it off I say it's diesel and they look at me like I have 10 heads....Ohhh it's a diesel.

I had the same problem to my 2014 Summit Eco Diesel. The fueltank is composed of two smaller fueltanks.
The hose between the fueltanks was cracked. The hose/fuel line is made of hard plastic. Dealership replaced the fuel line with real rubber hose.

The car only leaked when newly refueled.

So they didn't have to replace the tank? My dealer ordered a new tank assembly. Waiting for parts....

How big of a service was it to replace the fuel line?

Thanks,
Matt

They ordered a fuel tank to me , but they did not change it when they found the leak. But they had to take down the fuel tank. Also the drive shaft and exhaust system.

Re: 2014 JGC Summit Diesel Fuel Tank Cracked....???

It took about 3 hours to do the job. But be sure to have a small amount of fuel in the tank , otherwise the weight of the tank becomes a problem for the mechanic .
