Thumbs down 2014 JGC Summit Diesel Headlight OUT!

So last night I noticed my passenger side headlight went out..... I am at the dealership this morning and after an hour of having the vehicle they come to me to tell me they have confirmed the bulb is out. Then they proceed to tell me they have to pull the bumper completely off they vehicle to do this..... has anyone else had a headlamp go out they on a 2014 yet??

Sitting at the dealer,

Matt

Took'em a whole hour to confirm a burned out headlight, huh?

I would've been hard pressed not to come back with a suitably sarcastic, smartass reply.

SMH...

Had my drivers headlight go out on my overland. They initially replaced the bulb and ballast but that lasted two days before it went out again. They then had to replace the entire headlamp which took them two hours to do. Quite possible they may have to remove the bumper. I'd have to see if it's on my dealer paperwork

Well, at first they were going to replace the whole unit because that was "recommended" but then they came back to tell me they realized they could just do the bulb. But they didnt have just the bulb so I sit here and wait for it......

Having fun,

Matt

One of the LEDs is out on my DRLs, I haven't had a chance to get to the dealer to get it replaced, but I expect it probably won't be worth the headache.

These vehicles shouldn't be having these kinds of issues so soon. If there are videos on YouTube on how to repair the lights already we aren't alone....

If the GM ignition switch fiasco is any indication of how closely vehicle manufacturers monitor parts cost, this does not surprise me. I'm guessing that low bid probably wins the contract, which means that quality is not the number 1 priority.

Re: 2014 JGC Summit Diesel Headlight OUT!

I am in know way and expert on auto lighting, but lets face, these head lambs/bulbs are not what you can run to Autozone and pick up off the shelve. I can only imagine how much circutry there is involved to support the self leveling function, HID, LED day light's, etc. I am sure many fuctions are asembled into the housing and come as one unit. There could have been other issues beyond a mere burned out bulb that had to be checked out before a determination could be made as to what was wrong. If the total cost is really $3000 the conclusion can be made that there is a cost to what we are demanding in our vehicles, how they look, function, etc. I grant you they should not malfunction when brand new but "stuff" does happen. If you do not want to pay to maintain your $56,000 vehicle perhaps you should not have bought it in the first place. I am the owner of 2 2014 Jeep products and five others previous to these two and I swear buy them. I can not believe the majority of dealership owners and their technitions go to work everyday with the intent of taking advantage of every vehicle owner who comes thru the door.

Profit is always THE #1 priority.
