That is because that mod is something that he is selling. Its a resistor placed next to the DRL relay under the hood.

Oh I see, does he have a website or something where he sells this resistor?

Re: 2014 LED DRL off when Signaling? Anyway to change it

At first I thought a Jeep was heading toward me this afternoon. It was a GMC with the same DRLs. When they turned on the left directional the DRL went off.

I guess it's not just a Jeep thing.

LOTS of late model vehicles with high end lighting do this...

Yeah nothing's broken that's how it's designed, there no need to look cool towards the other driver when you're turning away from hitting them.

Re: 2014 LED DRL off when Signaling? Anyway to change it

I would agree with those claiming this is a legitimate safety issue if the headlights and DRLs were required to turn off at night when signaling. The light output of the headlights combined with the DRLs has to make it harder to see the turn signal than just with the DRLs on during the day. I'm not buying the safety issue.

I think the winking looks terrible....before I bought my GC I saw one in the parking garage at work with one of the DRLs out (he was signaling) and it made me think they must have a durability issue since it was already out on a brand new vehicle.

The first week I owned my GC I had someone next to me at a light waving at me frantically. I rolled my window down and he said "your headlight is out"... It was the DRL during a signal. So other people think it doesn't look right either.

So I'm definitely looking for a way to keep it on as well.

A traffic signal is what?? 1 min and 30 seconds?? Or you're making a turn which takes about 2-3 seconds?? We all are still cool and the car still looks great during those times when the LED is off while the turn signal is on so disregard those folks saying the headlight is out, they just wish they had a jeep.

Re: 2014 LED DRL off when Signaling? Anyway to change it

Just about all current Chrysler vehicle turn the DRL off when signaling, a cool feature. Those with some intellect admire the thoughtfulness, those with less intellect don't get it and they don't matter...

People certainly notice your turn signal.

Not sure why you're trying to argue about this. It matters to some people, so just accept that and move on. Obviously it doesn't matter to you (and some others), so I'm not sure why several of you are spending your time in this thread trying to convince other people that it shouldn't matter to them.

We're looking for a solution to what we view as a problem, not somebody to imply that we must have some insecurity about being "cool" that causes us not to like that our front headlights look like they're malfunctioning (in our opinion).

Just curious, does the fact that the law requires them to work that way matter at all?

I think a copy of the regulation was posted near the beginning of this thread.
