2014 Liftgate access panel, how to remove?

Anyone know how to remove it.

It is not in the interior trim PDF file.

It's on the opposite side of the liftgate handle.

This may be different on 2014's

If you are referring to the round access cover on the interior trim (for liftgate manual override), it just snaps in place.

Re: 2014 Liftgate access panel, how to remove?

yep...get some of those plastic trim removal tools. I just did this Sat on my 14' It was very easy and took less than 1 minute. Slide the trim tool between the metal hatch and the plastic and pull down. There are about 10-12 snap rivets holding the plastic on. Start closest to the seem for the lower part and upper part. I put painters tape around the edges to protect the paint and plastic. Once you get all the snap rivets loose....unplug the two small lamps and the panel will fall down.

Why would anyone need access to that panel?

I believe it's there to access the manual release cable for the liftgate for emergency use? But then again, who keeps a tool inside the vehicle to pry that panel off?

Yeah I was wondering that. I have a set of trim tools and it's really on tight. I wanted to ask before I pry harder.

Re: 2014 Liftgate access panel, how to remove?

What b$tch getting that thing off. I broke some tabs.

I had 2 tabs free and thought I was home free and it just wouldn't budge. I think the whole back would have come off easier.

For future folks, this is what it looks like.

There is actually a release lever in there.

pcman is on a distinguished road
Speaking of the liftgate glass I was sorely disappointed when I discovered you can't lift the glass portion of the liftgate like you could on my 2011 overland. Forgot to mention I have 2014 summit.

Chrysler will say it was for better visibility but the real reason was cost cutting. Plain and simple.

Neither. If you put one on, as is, you'd need a step stool to reach anything for normal height people.

That wing over the back, would have to go too and I think it's adds a lot to it's good looks. It might be functional too for air drag.
