My dealer is competent, and clean, but the overall level of service is not as high, as you would expect being in the dealership of a non-luxury brand.

This is true of every local to me Jeep dealer.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the Jeep. The Jeep is a very high quality vehicle, its solid, materials and switchgear are nice, it rides great, drives great. I enjoy driving it after getting out of my $60k Lexus, and mine's not even a Limited let alone a Summit. Its just don't expect it to go 150,000 miles and never have any little issues as your Acura did. In a lot of ways its much nicer than your Acura, but having realistic expectations is important.

You have these issues with BMW, Mercedes, Audi. Doesn't mean they aren't high quality vehicles, they just have common areas of concern.

I would buy the Jeep again without hesitation, I just don't expect perfection. Switch goes bad on the Lexus I get pissed, switch goes bad on the Jeep I go "Meh, they can fix it at the next oil change"...if that makes sense...
Great Reply SW03ES - THANKS for taking the time to explain.

Sounds like getting a Jeep will be an ajustment in some areas and a culture shock in others. I am also trying to figure out how to get to work if my Jeep is in for service and I have to leave it for a day or three.

I continue to think about this every day & night weighing my options and hoping to get something soon !

You may not be the kind of person who is interested in extended warranty plans, but the Chrysler MaxCare plan pays for a rental up to $35/day for up to 5 days if your dealer doesn't provide a loaner.

Think about it this way, you can always rent a car for $50.

Any details on what happened? We're going to be heading to San Diego this weekend and I plan to use the cruise control. Trying to figure out what you went through so I know what to look for and expect if I have the same issue.

Re: 2014 Overland at 750 miles

When it was new there was a periodic issue with getting the cruise control to turn on, once it was on it worked fine. We took it in and they replaced the switch module on the steering wheel. It was fine for about a year, and then on our way back from Albany after New Years it just cut off while it was activated and holding speed. That time it would not come back on the whole trip back. Took it back in and they replaced the same switch module again. So far so good...

An example of our issues over 25k miles:

-Cruise control failure X2 (repaired twice)
-Lock button on drivers door handle stopped working (repaired)
-Switch module for EVIC stopped working (repaired)
-Flipper glass button failed (repaired)
-Rear window leaks (they tried once, still leaks, minor)
-Various rattles and buzzes (most fixed, another one popped out recently from the passenger dash area)
-Drivers foglight seal failed (need to take it in)
-USB port in the armrest only works 25% of the time (need to take it in)
-Front brakes grinding (need to take it in)
-Periodic HVAC issue where blower won't run until restart (has never happened at the dealer so they cannot diagnose)

These are examples of the little annoying issues we've had that I have not had with the Toyota/Lexus products I've owned. They're all minor, but there are a lot for 1.5 years old. Theres always something that needs to be addressed by the dealer it seems.

Where do you get a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty?
