Re: 2014 Overland Issues

When I step into the driver's side the floor seems to give a little. At first I thought ChevyBoy skipped some weld spots.

After 6 months I've come to the conclusion it has something to do with the carpet backing. It used to sound like plastic popping back from being warped. In time it will either lay flat or the next owner will deal with it.

Does anyone know if it is a flexible carpet that is laid in, or is it pre-molded to a stiff backing?

I too was surprised at the hollow "drum" sound when tapping on the floor in the footwell area. My August build Limited has the same hollow "drum" sound when getting into the vehicle, as shoes hit the floor in the footwell area.
My 2012 Overland and my current 2014 Summit also have that cheap hollow sound from the passenger side floorboard. Just doesn't say much for the quality or lack of that is put into the vehicle.

Thanks to yhe responses. The dealership worked on most of the issues today and so far so good. Thumbs up to their Body shop.

As for the hollow sound from the passenger side sounds like that is the way the GC are, I just hope i don't get a foot tapping passenger over there.

The only other issues so far are the day/night auto lights seem to be way too sensitive (jumps into night mode way to early) and uconnect wont save my setting for auto seat/steering wheel
Comfort depending on outside temp.

Two new questions -

When slowing down to stop about the time I am about to come to a complete stop the vehicle well have a lurch/brake pedal pulse. Is this normal? I dont notice other issues with shifting.

How much water should I see under the vehicle after running it for awhile on a hot day with the AC on? I see a small area whereas my old highlander would have a big puddle.

Re: 2014 Overland Issues

Some more questions since my last post for my late July/early August build

Around 60-75mph I at times feel slight vibration in the steering wheel/pulsing but nothing really bad. Also on what I feel is a straight mostly level highway at these speeds the car sometimes goes to the right but when driving at slower speeds the vehicle seems to stay straight. Think I should ask the dealer to check balance/alignment?

When driving shifts seem to be getting a bit harsher but the main issue is when braking at times when stopping about the time I come to a complete stop the vehicle has a lurch/pulse, could this be the transmission having problems downshifting or something else? I see the shifting TSB has been updated to include some August builds.

After starting the vehicle I sometimes hear a clunk is this the 4wd system activating?

Also How much water should I see under the vehicle after running it for awhile on a hot day with the AC on? I see a small area whereas my old highlander would have a big puddle.

Also two other things -

I hear a loud sound when the hvac is changing modes almost like a flap/door being close but its very loud thump. Is this normal?

Also my auto lights turn on way too soon when there is plenty of light is this usual or some thing else?

The lights come on too soon and aren't adjustable. But that's better than coming on too late.

I wouldn't mind so much but the dash/radio becomes very hard to see when its still light out.

I think the dial on the dash will let you crank it up so it matches daylight settings.

That was something Acura had right. Not only could you adjust the settings for headlight sensitivity, but the sensors for the dash lighting were separate. Even when t he headlights came on, the dash would stay the sam until it got much darker.

Re: 2014 Overland Issues

Slightly off topic but I noticed your the OP 2014 Overland has the metal scuff plate in the door sill. My 2014 Overland doesn't have that, it's all plastic. Does the Off-Road Adventure II package delete that?

Hey Bill, Just a guess, but I suspect that it is a plastic lid under there, similar to the plastic lid covering the electronics under the seat. Sounds hollow if you tap your foot on it. I put a 1/2" foam pad between the floor mat and the carpet, which masks the hollow sound when hitting it with my feet.

I have no idea about that, sorry. Possibly start a thread asking other and include your build date (driver door jam sticker ) and see what others say. Now it could be ora2 package, jeep made a production change, or the wrong part was installed at jnap.
