To give you the most honest answer I have to this... I am fairly sure it cannot be upgraded. Here is the exact wording of the communication. It appears to me that it is a function of the SER suspension that changed.

"Early 2014 WK Jeep Grand Cherokee’s equipped with SER air suspension are not equipped with the "auto entry/exit " feature that will automatically drop the vehicle to park height for easier entry and exit. Late 2014 vehicles will be equipped. "

Let me guess, there is some legsl disclaimer stating that Jeep can make it up as they go along?... not doing the brand any favours.

While I am complete agreement with you that this sucks, it is not a brand thing. I don't work for Chrysler and in fact am closer with some other brands (longer relationship)... All brands add and take away features mid-stream and always have. It is simply getting worse now that there are so many tech features that it is hard not to notice stuff like this.

Jeep has done more mid-product changes than I would normally see on a product However they do not hold a candle to some of the other changes that Manufacturers have made during a build.

Again, totally with you there that this sucks but brand wise, this is common globally.

Check those door jams for date stamps read those tealeaves its all about model month not model year. its on the hush hush too, changes go quietly into production. read the tealeaves, read the smoke signals in the sky or you might miss something you would have liked lol

Re: 2014 Quadra-lift: "easy entry" option not appearing on UConnect menu?

Two points I'd like to make here. (1) The vast majority of people out there won't even be aware of these changes. We, on the forum, have access to way more information on the build characteristics of these vehicles than the general public. Tweaking with the builds of vehicles, and most other complex products, is just the way manufacturing works. That is called "continuous improvement", and has been a staple of manufacturing for years. (2) For those of us that have been early adopters of any technology for a long period of time, these "shake down cruises" of products, with fixes and changes along the way, are a normal fact of life. It comes with the territory of early adoption. And now that everything we own is full of processors and software, this is becoming more prevalent in everybody's life. If manufacturers waited for everything to be perfect, nothing would ever come to market. Your ability to deal with imperfection will determine the amount of time you should wait to purchase any new technology. Complaining won't change any of this (although that's part of what forums are for). It's just the way things are today.

I have an August build Overland and it has the feature to automatically lower when parked. I know before I read that the adaptive cruise stop/go would be a hard change but it sounded like the auto ease of entry would be available by software update. I hope that is still the case and that they say its a hard change is a stock answer and just needs researched more. Either way to owners who want/expect that functionality maybe a call to Chrysler/Jeep asking about it wouldn't hurt. Good luck if you do call.

While your theory is sound, something in the SER Build components has changed. That is very much hardware.

oh I fully realize all that Jack, I have been working with new technology my whole career and not much surprises me anymore but that doesn't mean I have to like the way they handle this. A suggestion to them would be to simply state at the beginning of a model year what will be late availability or even likely late availability, Yeah I know they often don't know exactly when this or that will be ready but they likely have an inkling that it will be model year 14, especially when it comes out the first 6 months of an 18 month run. Sure they knew they would release this stuff for model 14, announce too many late availabilities and people may not buy now they may wait. so I get the hush hush corporate profit thing doesn't mean I got to like it. After heavily researching something for months before buying its more the quiet surprise of introduction that bothers me a bit. But I think I have beat this subject to death enough and I still love my jeep so I wont bring this up again, peace

also for the record I could care less about "easy entry" I would never use it once lol

The Dealers were made aware June 5 2013 at the very latest of this Late Availability addition... In Fact, the dealers usually get some form of information on all of these changes. I believe they had info on this even before May but I don't see record of it (old records get superseded)

These however are the same dealers who tell you a TSB software update is not yet available even though you have the printed copy of it in your hand. There in lies the problem.

not_too_shabby has a brilliant future
It's unfortunate this was in the manual even though the feature wasn't available in my vehicle. I read the manual as part of my decision process.
