Re: 2014 Radio Needs Service Question

Wonder if this vehicle phone requires service is stored somewhere and comes back nagging you(unless you clear it) even if there is no issue.

My modem completly flipped out today after they did factory reset. After I went into engineering menu to check version it would say "undetermined" for sierra software and hardware version and the red light would constantly be on.

I said wait a minute my old radio was working fine other than the phone needs service message can you put it back in for me ? So that's what they are doing. Wish I would have just left well enough alone.
It's been 2 weeks since this fiasco. Still haven't heard anything from the dealer, they said they'd call when they got a new radio.....

Other than still getting the " phone needs service" message a couple of times, everything has been fine.

I'm tempted to just keep my current radio. I don't want to end up with a radio with more problems than I started with.

Any advice?

I have had the message pop up 2 times, both saturdays mid month, followed by loss of presets.

Just speculating, but I think they are pushing OTA updates and when that occurs, the radio does some sort of diagnostic that triggers the phone warning. For me, my assist button, etc. work just fine so I'm choosing to ignore it.

On the bright side, you have a first in line ticket once they figure out what the real fix is...

Re: 2014 Radio Needs Service Question

Just had the new replacment radio they ordered installed. Everything work great for two days then today I got the vehicle phone is inoperative message again along with the red light on the rear view mirror. I should have kept my 2011 I never had an issue with that truck the three years I owned it.

I've had the message twice, and no other problems except no Assist, which Uconnect fixed with an OTA update. I'm not even telling my dealer. I'd keep your radio if that's the only problem, as I don't think there's a fix for it yet.

Got my radio replaced and still getting this nagging message every other day. Doesn't seem like the actually have any clue as to what is the root cause.

Unless your radio is all over the place I would stand by and hold off until they figure this one out.

Re: 2014 Radio Needs Service Question

Yes this appears to be the word. I find it weird you get it every other day because that is a lot especially on a new radio.

Can you check the date code in the serial number??? Or if you want to PM me the serial number and I can decode it.

How do I get the serial number? Do I need to rip apart the dashboard to get to it or is it somewhere in the menu (normal or engineering one)?

Re: 2014 Radio Needs Service Question

I don't think it is actually there. At least I don't see it. I checked both normal and engineering menu. I don't see serial # for the unit.

Re: 2014 Radio Needs Service Question

OK, I found it ... dealer mode is different than engineering one. Serial is T00BE043370254 . So if I'm decoding this correctly 043 3 is somewhere middle of Feb.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED! Going to call the dealer again tomorrow.
