2014 Summit AC

So I've had the AC running a few days now with 70+ degree temps but have yet to see any pool of evap water under the jeep. The smell of wet dog continues out my vents but not sure if that is related or not. Does anyone know where the drain is for the AC on the 2014 ? also, I assume I should be seeing water / condensation drip when it is running. Thanks

Re: 2014 Summit AC

I can't help you with the location of the drain, but if you bring up that your ac smells funky to your service rep, they will do a system flush/clean of your unit. I have a very sensitive sense of smell (due to a large nose and all that that goes with it). Back in Jan. I hadn't used my ac for about 3-4 months and we had a heat wave, so I started using it and it smelled terrible. It had a moldy, wet smell to it. It definitely wasnt the same as when I was using during the summer. No one else could smell it except myself, the techs thought it was fine but I stuck to my guns and they got rid of the smell. The downside though is that it takes roughly 4 hours for it to dry before they handed me back mah keys.

Ps. They had a technical name for the flush, I just can't think of it right now.

ChrisOC - Thanks for the feedback, guess I am concerned only because this is only 4 weeks old, thinking I shouldn't have that stinch in my new car. Also concerned as others have experienced that the evap lines were never hooked up. I may have to get the dealer to look at it at the next oil change.

Re: 2014 Summit AC

The A/C evaporator drain hose drains out near the left side of the transmission. When viewed from outside the on the left side, the drain should drip below where the accelerator pedal is located.

Re: 2014 Summit AC

I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee also. Had it for 2 months now. (1st American made car in many years.) Just took mine in. I hear a "water sloshing" sound as I start and stop. Sounds like a couple of gallons sloshing around. Service tech said it was probably water trapped in the AC evaporator - that the drain plug must be clogged. Wow, I only have 3k miles on it and already taking it in. Didn't do this with my Japanese cars.

There have been several reports of the AC condensation line not properly hooked up to drain to the outside. Soaked carpet and water pooling in the floorboard compartments under both front seats are the result!

Re: 2014 Summit AC

Turns out the water was in the battery compartment under the front passenger seat. Service drained and fixed the drain plug. While doing that I think they removed the battery. Before, I had rough downshifting from 3rd to 2nd to 1st when approaching a stop. Now the shifting is much better. I've heard elsewhere about better shifting after disconnecting battery.
