Re: 2014 Transmission

Are these experiences happening with the ECO on or off? I'm now beginning to get an occasional clunk when in reverse or slowly moving into 1st gear as I pull out of the garage.

I'm have Eco on 99% of the time. While typing my previous post, I kind of wondered the same thing as you Challenger. I've got the clunk when sometimes, but I can't say it consistently happens.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Yes mine doesn't happen often either and it actually just started happening right around 7400 miles. I now have 8000 and it's still occurring as I've just reached 1 year of ownership, aside from that I've had no issues with my vehicle other then a few needed TSBs that are now necessary and a replacement shark antenna for my overland.

Eco is always on in my vehicle also and I have never really used the sport mode.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Need to test it out with ECO on and off. Pretty sure it happens in both instances though. Might call the dealer for the ol' run-around.

Doesn't matter to me. This isn't a 50k toy that I have to set in a certain mode to shift correctly.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Took mine in for a second time this AM....it's still there and will be through tomorrow apparently. They called and said they are "still trying to figure out the transmission issue".

Awesome.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Here is the letter I sent to NHTSA and JEEP on 5/31. Not happy with the vehicle at all. I bought an early 14 last May. JEEP was built March 2013.

As of yesterday I have had my 2014 Grand Cherokee for 1 year. I bought it with 6 miles on it brand new. Since then I have been back to the dealer 16 times for numerous issues. 4 of which was related to the faulty transmission. There were 3 flash updates for the Transmission and none of the addressed he problem. The rough shifting, jerking of the vehicle and extremely high running RPM's must be doing further damage to the Power Train. There is no smooth shifting from 1-2-3 nor is there from 3-2-1. Getting on and off the highway is always interesting. trying to get on the highway the vehicle feels bogged down and takes some time to shift to the next gear. You are giving it gas and it just is stuck in 3-4 or 5th gear and you are putting on the highway trying to get on and then out of no where the transmission unleashes and the car just takes off. Getting off the highway on an exit ramp any time of slow down (fast or gradually) the car just whines and the RPM's are way in the red, since the transmission will not downshift properly. Again brought it to the dealer that sold it to me for all the flash updates and another visit to say it is still not operating properly and they told me to run it in Sport Mode or turn off the Eco button. Well what good is giving you the option for a Eco Button and can't even use it....not to mention it really doesn't address the underlining problem with the faulty transmission. Very frustrated with he car, JEEP and the dealer due to their lack of support. This is a well known issue on this new released vehicle and no one wants to fix it until someone unfortunately gets hurt from faulty operation of the Power Train. I now have about 10,000 miles and still like from day one I am having all the same transmission problems.

Wow, that is crazy. Sorry they aren't giving you more hope. What are they attributing the issues to, or are they saying it's operating within normal parameters?

Surely they will let you replace it?

Re: 2014 Transmission

Let's say you got a great deal on the jeep you're having issues with but didn't buy it from the dealer you trust to do the work and then Chrysler buys it's back...what about the negotiations on the newer vehicle and the numbers and the deal you previously got.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Good idea. But if I end up not liking the results of my latest attempt to fix the issues, I'll try the insane battery reset method and then get out of Jeep altogether.

I'll go trade in straight across (or close to it) for a new 4Runner limited and actually get to enjoy my ride.
