Re: 2014 Transmission

Just got it back today, and they have to "go back to their engineers to determine the problem". They realize I'm not happy and appear to be taking me seriously, although I'm not sure why they didn't just attempt the April TSB.

it was also in for:
- recall. Couldn't fix and have to order parts
- rattle in sunroof. By the time I got home, the rattle was back
- rattle on driver rear view. Same result as other rattle.

Glad I left it there for two days so they could address all my issues.

Surely they will let you replace it?
The dealer said there is nothing that can be done except if I trade it in and buy another one. Now that really pissed me off. Dealer claims that Jeep has to approve a swap due to the financial loss. I mean come on I am at a financial loss. Another call to Jeep corp. tomorrow!!! Fun stuff

I'm assuming from your forum name that you live around the Kansas City area. I'm in Olathe. If so, what dealership are you using?

I just passed 8k miles. If I'm tracking correctly with updates (dealerships put mystery notes on invoice) I've had all three transmission updates since I purchased the vehicle last July. I've had the jerky shifts coming to a stop issue, hard shift when first starting out and a few other sporadic hard shifts that made my wife comment. I can say at this point the transmission has been shifting pretty much flawless. I can't really detect any issues in shifting and am really paying attention at those typical shift points that had issues in the past.

If the transmission updates are not resolving the issue I would press then on the April TSB to have them hook up and re-learn the shifting points under certain loads and speeds. If that doesn't work there is a STAR case for the valve body that may need to be replaced.

You guessed correctly! We actually are in Olathe too and purchased from Olathe DCJR. I'll be calling them tomorrow to inform them my trip this week was a total failure, and to press them on the latest TSB.

I really want to like this ride, but as each day passes my wife wants to trade it in for a 4runner due to reliability issues. The jeep has been in three times now since we bought it in February, and we took our 4runner in 5 times over the course of eight years before trading it in.

Olathe Jeep knows me pretty well. They scatter like roaches when I pull into the service bay. They actually left me a voicemail tonight to do a short survey about my last service visit.

The 4Runner was a candidate but I couldn't get past the 80s interior. Don't give up yet. I'll pass my personal email address in a private message if you want to chat.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I got the brake booster recall in the mail today. I am going to call them tomorrow and mention I want them to also look at trans and want them to do the recent big ass TSB. If its not fixed since I leased it I will have no problem turning it back when the lease is up.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I had the Flashes done, but the crappy shifting came back.. now I have a new PCM in it. the shifting is better, but only after it warms up. Cold its jrky from 1 to 2.. warmed up its like butter. I went in a drove a few new ones.. they were AWFUL compared.

as far as trading for a new? NEVER would I EVER swap out and start over. I cant wait till my lease is up.

You should trade it for one with the Hemi. I think you would be much happier with it.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I thought of that.. BUT

1) Its more $$$ for something that overall im not happy with
2) I would then be starting over in a new lease, and I dont want to have a Jeep anymore

I know they are diff trans , but the rest of the car is still no good. So many random problems that arent repeatable. Seats forget to move, keyfob not detected, tailgate wont go down, outside temp stuck, inside temps too hot, not cold enough. Phone not pairing, radio sounds like poo for satellite, Shifter sometimes is hard to get to drive. Flashlight in back dead twice... the list goes on. The problem is, they are all random! they never happen for the dealer.

Jeep needs to start over on the this one...

Re: 2014 Transmission

If I stick with a jeep I would consider getting a wrangler unlimited if they don't ruin it with this tranny.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Mine is in for the third time now. They had it all day to perform the relearn process, but called at the end of the day to tell me they need it for the weekend. They said they can't figure out what's wrong.

If it's not up to par when I get it back, I'm driving it across the street and trading it in.
