Re: 2014 Transmission

I'm driving the explorer now as a rental car while vacationing and with the V6 in not impressed at all. The fit and finish isn't that great either. Ford uses a lot of plastic as all makers do but ford doesn't seem to break it up at all with other materials to soften the look of all the plastic.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Before looking at the jeep the fully loaded explorer was something I drove and thought about buying. I could not get over the hump back whale extended front bumper as it just killed the look for me as it kinda reminded me of the chin strap on the football helmet i wore back in high school. The one I test drove was the one with all the toys and bells and whistles with the 6 cylinder and it was when ford changed the look to this newer body style. It did ride nice and i think those were the early days of the my touch electronics.

Re: 2014 Transmission

@jayhawk...it's a rental vehicle with 33,000 miles on it so I'm just hoping its reliable for me and my family I don't know about its history. Lol..No issues thus far in Florida but defiantly different then my 2014 overland as far as the suspension since this one probably doesn't have the air ride and just overall look and comfort but it's doing the job that's needed.

Re: 2014 Transmission

nooo not the explorer! they are only good for a few years, then they fall apart. just look at the slightly older ones on the road... none last.

Toyota.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Toyotas will typically love you a long time no pun intended..lol. I do think they could've done slightly better with the styling of the 4 runner and it's somewhat boxy styling that they tried to make aerodynamic.

Re: 2014 Transmission

It will likely be toyota. Traded our old toyota in, which was rock solid for 7 years, for this jeep. SMH.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Sorry your having issues because it seems there's a small percentage of owners where that's occurring. You're only looking at the 4 runner?

Re: 2014 Transmission

We started with:
4runner
Jeep
Explorer
Acadia
MDX
QX60
Pathfinder

I have a Tahoe, so we had it narrowed down to mid size.

Ended up being between the toyota and jeep. D'oh!
