As of yesterday I have had my 2014 Grand Cherokee for 1 year. I bought it with 6 miles on it brand new. Since then I have been back to the dealer 16 times for numerous issues. 4 of which was related to the faulty transmission. There were 3 flash updates for the Transmission and none of the addressed he problem. The rough shifting, jerking of the vehicle and extremely high running RPM's must be doing further damage to the Power Train. There is no smooth shifting from 1-2-3 nor is there from 3-2-1. Getting on and off the highway is always interesting. trying to get on the highway the vehicle feels bogged down and takes some time to shift to the next gear. You are giving it gas and it just is stuck in 3-4 or 5th gear and you are putting on the highway trying to get on and then out of no where the transmission unleashes and the car just takes off. Getting off the highway on an exit ramp any time of slow down (fast or gradually) the car just whines and the RPM's are way in the red, since the transmission will not downshift properly. Again brought it to the dealer that sold it to me for all the flash updates and another visit to say it is still not operating properly and they told me to run it in Sport Mode or turn off the Eco button. Well what good is giving you the option for a Eco Button and can't even use it....not to mention it really doesn't address the underlining problem with the faulty transmission. Very frustrated with he car, JEEP and the dealer due to their lack of support. This is a well known issue on this new released vehicle and no one wants to fix it until someone unfortunately gets hurt from faulty operation of the Power Train. I now have about 10,000 miles and still like from day one I am having all the same transmission problems.
European Grand Cherokee 2014 CRD Diesel here. Build-date 04/2013
Nothing but problems from Day one concerning Uconnect Radio System, a strange tweeting sound from the high pressure Diesel-Pump at low speeds, a loud Ventilation system on the passenger side, one dead key, a loud wining noise from the power steering, damp headlights, squeaky mirror on drivers side, a cut in the leather on the steering wheel, both rear seat-belts not pulling back strong enough and last but not least: transmission issues.
My dealer here in Switzerland worked together with a Jeep technician to resolve the tweeting from the pump.
Built in a "pulsation damper" (translated from German)
The sound is almost gone now and I can live with it. Many other Jeeps have this issue, but all on different sound-levels.
The other issues are almost all taken care of too.
They replaced everything listed above, except the mirror..will have to live with that unless it gets worse.
Also, the Headlights will be replaced if it happens again next Winter. Jeep has developed newer lights wothout this issue - He even said I could have it done within the fourth year so I could benefit from new Xenon-Bulbs.
Servo-Pump will be replaced next month.
After they patched all software-versions including a "fix" for the shifting behaviour, the car drives like someone who cannot drive stick!
The new Software causes the acceleration and shifting to react way too sensitively. The car leaps forward sometimes, even if only touching the accelerator slightly - this does not happen often though.
The main issue I have with this update, is how the Jeep feels while driving in low gear. Terrible shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, causing the car to jerk and my passengers heads are pushed forward then back - even while giving the acceleration allot of love.
Engineers told me they cannot "officially" downgrade to the older version and will be doing a full gear-calibration as stated in one of Jeep's bulletins as a Fix for bad gear-shifting. (Mentioned in this thread several times)
When I came to pick up the car, they said the Bulletin had failed after 3 hours of work and they could not figure out why. Jeep needs to get involved again and I'll have to bring it in yet another time..
I think many of us here in this Forum are sharing the same issues and are very disappointed to say the least.
I wish Jeep would make an official statement to their clients who spent their hard earned Money on a dream not quite come true.
There is no "lemon law" here in Switzerland. So we just have to keep fighting for what we paid for and for what the Vehicle should have been like from day one.
@rpower1976 - did you ever get a response to your letter?
