Just chiming in. Smoothed things out a lot for me. I was not annoyed in any way because of the occasional clunk and slow performance of ECO mode, but definitely worth 90 seconds of work and 15 minutes of waiting.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I noticed the transmission issues with the v6 - I didn't notice it with the Hemi. Interested in how many Hemi owners believe the transmission is 'shifty' and feeling it...

No tranny issues on my 2014 overland v8 hemi. I have 5000 miles and can tell you that this SUV is one smooth ride. I am enjoying mine.

Add me to you list of 2014 JGC tranny issues as described above...

2014 V6 Laredo:
Started to notice rough shifting around 500 miles. Everything described in this thread. Did the battery disco reset improperly and received no improvement in shifting. Did the rest once more to the t as described in the thread (slow neighborhood driving is they key), and I have to say, this made a huge improvement. But approx 20% of the time I still get a rough 1st gear down shift. Still an occasional and extent annoying lack of acceleration in eco when leaving a stop light. To which I just press the accelerator even more then I take off like a bat out of hell.
I'm on board with voicing our concerns to either lead service reps at the dealer or directly to chrysler. (I've started making more enemies in my life, but it's only those that don't want to do their job).
I don't want to have a loosey-goosey tranny at 100,000 miles because I have to drive around like this waiting on chrysler to get their stuff together.

My shifting is silky smooth at 3500 miles now with the only exception being downshift to 2nd. This happens in both eco and non-eco mode. I don't notice it going to first as much, but the downshift to second is almost always jarring. It is probably the transmission getting ready for acceleration again (particularly with the 8-speed and 6-cyl), but I would rather it downshift to 2nd only when you are almost stopped, and instead downshift to 2nd only when you actually hit the accelerator.

The "exception" you mention is exactly what everyone is talking about. Shifts in the 1-2 or 2-3 and downshifts from 3-2 or 2-1 are what people are saying can be rough (lurch or clunk). After having 3 different rental cars over the past 2 weeks (not 2014 Grand Cherokees), I can say that only the 2014 JGC has this issue as all other vehicles were so smooth that you didn't even remember that there was a transmission shifting.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Folks, any idea if Chrysler is working on a fix for this Tranny shifting issue, I'm really really unhappy with this jeep in traffic, can't believe I spend all this money and not enjoying my ride... Battery reset or ECO disabled doesn't really work for me in 40 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic.. Hope a fix is available soon, not sure what I dislike more, my Jeep or the 40 minutes of traffic. Sad..

Re: 2014 Transmission

Anyone considered making use of lemon laws in effort to get it fixed or to return your vehicle? This shifting problem seems, to me, like an obvious defect that would affect the resale value?

If its something that is normal then you wouldn't be able to lemon law it. I'm sure they will come out with a software update for the tans.

Re: 2014 Transmission

The latest reflash (version 4?) solved the problem for me.
