Thats because you have the V8. That tranny is better then the V6 junk one.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Took mine in today to have both aforementioned updates applied. They actually did 4 other updates, noted as maintenance or electrical misc.

Two separate 15 minute treks around town isn't much, but so far so good. The upshift is virtually gone and the downshift lurch effect isn't noticeable.

Crossing fingers.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I'm a bit amazed at the number of people who are taking a "wait and see" approach on this or trying to solve the problem outside of Jeep. This seems like a pretty significant problem. For the record, I've been to the dealership 7 times for my 2014, 2 of them related to the "clunk" in the transmission, and I just got a call that they have to replace my entire transmission. The service tech said they had no idea what was wrong with the tranny, but they were able to replicate the issue and the moment that they called Chrysler about the issue Chrysler decided it was time for a brand new transmission. (I have just over 5,000 miles...8% of those back and forth to the dealership).

I've also had...
- a cracked fuel filter
- a UConnect that completely died
- a "whistling" vent (the only thing that was fixed on the first go-round)
- what appears to be a bad frame weld that affects my ability to install a hitch

2014 Transmission

European Grand Cherokee 2014 CRD Diesel here. Build-date 04/2013

Nothing but problems from Day one concerning Uconnect, a strange tweeting sound from the high preasure Diesel-Pump at low speeds, a loud Ventilation system on the passenger side, one dead key, a wining noise from the power steering, damp headlights..

They are working together with Jeep to resolve the tweeting from the pump. The other issues are also all being taken care of soon.

There is a new problem since my last visit to Garage and I never had this problem before. Now, after they patched all software-versions including a "fix" for the shifting behaviour, the car drives like someone who cannot drive stick!

The new Software causes the acceleration and shifting to react way too sensitively. The car leaps forward sometimes, even if only touching the accelerator slightly - this does not happen often though.

The main issue I have with this update, is how the Jeep feels while driving in low gear. Terrible shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, causing the car to jerk and my passengers heads are pushed forward then back - even while giving the acceleration allot of love.

Some people where complaining about the Jeep not accelerating and reacting fast enough when in eco-mode. So what! I liked the silky feel of its accereration in eco! Great for when stuck in traffic too! I never minded it, as I just switched to Sport-Mode when sharp speed was really needed. Now, it is just TERRIBLE to drive! Jerking and unclean shifting all ober the place.

Engineers told me they cannot "officially" downgrade to the older version and will be doing a full gear-calibration as stated in one of Jeep's bulletins as a Fix for bad gear-shifting and jerky driving..

If this procedure does not help, I will be opening a Ticket with Jeep to downgrade to the last version of software - or will be hoping for a quick fix to the current version!

So - whatever you do, DO NOT let them patch any software concerning gear shifting!

I will get back to you when I know more and after they performed the bulletin callibration procedures.

Hope for the best guys!

Re: 2014 Transmission

So now that I've noticed a subtle clinking lately in reverse or coming to a slow stop will this TSB straighten that out?

I have a clinking sound when I put my jeep in reverse as well. Especially when I shift from P to R in the morning during the first gear shift of the day it makes a clink sound when I back up in reverse. My TSBs are up to date btw.

Re: 2014 Transmission

I haven't gotten the transmission TSB yet. I'm waiting till its time for my next oil change to get this all done. I'm tired of making all of these different trips.

Re: 2014 Transmission

Well I gave it a few days, but the shifting lurches are still noticeable...damn. It's better than it was prior to the TSBs, but still lame for a 50k luxury SUV.

I wonder if they'll let me trade this in for the V8? I feel crappy about this after only 4k miles...

Re: 2014 Transmission

Well its been about 1,000 mi since I had the TCM flashed from the 12-21-14 service bulletin and started to notice some inconsistencies again. I was curious, has anyone had the 4-25-14 service bulletin done?

That is the one attached that is the 9 page, ridiculous adaptive drive learn procedure that from what my dealer tells me is quite the process...

Want to hear some results to make sure it can do the trick. Originally had the downshifting issue coming to a stop from 3-2-1, and now noticing it doing the same thing as before along with some up shifting inconsistencies by not wanting to shift out of first until I hit 2500 RPM which doesnt make sense when leaving a parking lot...

Any help or feedback from the 4-25 bulletin would be great!

Re: 2014 Transmission

I had the 4-25 bulletin done about 3 weeks ago (350 miles in) and it seems that have fix all my clunky shifting problems especially at start-up. My technician spent over an hour with my vehicle and even filled out the chart. Get this TSB done! I actually don't dread driving my vehicle anymore! There is an occasional clunk but it's nothing like it was before I had this relearning process done.

I've also noticed an increase in my MPG but that can just be a coincidence.
