Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Thanks for fix, mine has had this rattle since new , it's now at 4000 miles I kept
looking under dash with no luck. Just applied your fix and so far no rattle, is this hose have a plastic at the other end so hard to tell.

I love 2015 GC first one for me, and now I love it even more !!!

Thanks, Jon

I have a 2 week old Diesel Summit with the same dreaded "heat shield" buzzing. It occurs in various gears but the rpms are in around 1300 to 1500.
I will try the hose solution described above.

I listened to your video for about 1 second and that's exactly what mine is doing. I'm gonna try the fix because my dealership has been reluctant thus far to do any real troubleshooting.

It's "cosmetic" in their view which to me is an asinine explanation seeing how I spend over 40K and this vehicle started this at 12,000 miles or less.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with the same annoying rattle on acceleration and I believe I have found the source. It's the large fusebox cover under the hood on the driver's side near the firewall. The fit for the cover is very loose. I removed the cover, took it for a test drive and the noise is finally gone. I plan to put tape on the edges to make the fit tighter - I'm sure that will resolve MY issue. I hope it helps other as well.

Love this forum...I also have the "heat shield" rattle, so I'll check out the hose issue. Mine occurs only at low rpm and under acceleration...quite minor but still......

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

How did you make out with that rattle on your 14 cherokee , have the same issue and i was wondering after you had figured it was the fuse box cover , if that had taken the rattle away or is it still present. thanks ken

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Unfortunately it did not help - still looking for an answer. I do find however that the noise is much worse in warmer weather - last winter the noise was much less.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Thanks for replying back. I also notice the same thing it gets worse in warmer weather and and when i start my TH most times i hear it. I also hear it on acceleration and under a load with the windows down is when you hear it the greatest . it's been in the shop a bunch of times for the same issue and still have not figured it out. My theory on it is the exhaust especially the flex pipe, it looks like the flex pipe is wrapped in chicken wire and i think that's where the tin rattle is coming from . If i hear anything different ill post back.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Hello all,

Just got my first Jeep GC Altitude 4x4. I am loving it and don't regret switching over from a 4Runner.

I have the V6 with just under 200 miles. I noticed the pinging sound from the start. Sounds metallic and only happens during acceleration. It sounds very light pinging tin sounds. It doesn't sound as deep as the examples posted here. I first thought perhaps it was cheap gas the dealer filled the truck up with. As soon as I'm done with the first tank I'll try a higher octane. If it's still around then I'll try the fuse box and hose fix.

I guess another way to describe the sounds is when you turn off the car after a long drive and you can hear the oil dripping to the oil pan .... A tickling ping but at a higher rate and higher pitch. I can't hear it with the windows open at low speed or coasting.

Thanks.

Same problem here. New V6 High Alititude purchased a week ago with a mid-Nov build date. I also notice the pinging noise when accelerating up hills at low RPM in high gears. I also though it might be bad gas, but I'm on my second tank now and no improvement. I was going to try a tank of premium to see if that helps at all. Let me know if you get a diagnosis.
