Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

This is great Vedled!
Thank you! I'll be printing this out and showing to my dealer and my mechanic.
To be continued.

Thanks guys. Here I was questioning myself if I was really hearing something unusual. It's just as everyone has described. Only when you accelerate and stops after 32 mph. The dealer brushed this off as "normal", as they did with my steering column noise (the humming sound was a bracket they removed).this other sound is due to the steering assistance in the electric power steering motor(some of you are already aware there is no fix "yet" to that sound). Anyhow, now I have another issue for Jeep customer service...damn it. All this money for a cheaply made car.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

So, here's a picture of the insulated cables i'm talking about. This picture is from the drivers side, looking right over the driver side shock...look directly behind the engine and down. Note the two thick metallic insulated cables with the one extremely close to the firewall. It's tight in there so it's kinda difficult to get a good shot without the other lines being in the way. What's even harder is getting a hand in there to try and move the thing at all...maybe if I miraculously grow go-go gadget arms or alien fingers overnight. You can't see but those two lines are actually wedged pretty tight along a metal line above this view you see here. I was actually able to touch that part so i know those lines aren't going anywhere. I'm no mechanic or anything but the thought here is that the engine is shaking and that line is smacking the firewall during acceleration as the engine tries to generate the power in that mph range. Would be great if you guys could take a look at yours and see if you have a similar cabling arrangement or not...let us know what you find.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Thanks again Vedled!
I am taking the truck to my mechanic tomorrow.
I have printed out all the valuable info from this thread to show him.
I'll post an update when I get it back.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

I'll be bringing back my truck to my dealer next Wednesday for a second look.
I'm trying to remain positive.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Please let us know what your dealer says...this is starting to look like a class-action suit; these problems just keep adding up and they are not providing any solutions whatsoever. It's bs!

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Just to post w/ my own experience, an exhaust replacement did fix my issue. Specific diagnosis was "mid muffler baffle internally broken". My second trip to the dealer the tech took it out for a test drive and was able to confirm my issue. Seemed to get worse over time, and was very noticeable giving it gas going slowly up an incline. My driveway has a decent incline going up to the garage, and the thing would rattle pretty bad as I pulled in. After the exhaust replacement, I no longer have the problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this info.
I will be telling my dealer about this in the morning.

For 40K the word "can't" shouldn't be your only option.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

Replaced left hand side catalytic converter.
The rattle still is there.

Re: 2014 V6 Rattle?

My rattle magically went away over time if that gives you any hope...or I've just stopped caring over time but I'm still going with A. As detailed previously, dealer performed some fixes which definitely helped but the noise was still there. Last thing I did was try to jam my long, skinny arm in there and fiddle with those lines but I could only get the very tip of my finger on those insulated lines so I doubt I did too much there. It kinda went away after that so who knows though. I listened for the noise several times after that and just couldn't pick it up as clearly anymore. I'm sure it's still there but nowhere near as loud and grating as it was new. My only other guess is that the objects in question wore themselves down, vibrated themselves away from each other or I hit enough bumps to jar things around. Whichever it is, I'll take it. I have to roll my window down daily so I know I would still be picking up on it. I've got 6,500 miles on mine now so maybe you just need some more miles on the road or you need a good off-road session to bounce things around.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance but maybe it gives you some hope.
