2014 Whining Noise
First, my Jeep is a 2014 Laredo V6 with QT2. Throughout this winter, I've experienced some whining noise, which sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment. I think it's related to colder weather, and after the vehicle has warmed to operating temp. The whine is much more frequent in snow, sand, and mud modes, and is often faint enough that I don't hear it over my music. And it's only when my foot is off the gas.
However, once in awhile that faint whine gets REALLY loud, is constant, and occurs in all modes, even auto. This is generally in much colder weather, probably less than 10 degrees.
The first time I took it to the dealer, they said they couldn't replicate the problem. Which is BS because I barely made it out of the parking lot when it started.
Second time I took the service rep for a ride along and he heard the noise. Then the service rep took the tech for a ride and he also heard the noise. After searching Chrysler mechanic forums for a few minutes, the tech determined it's "normal" and "not a problem".
As far as I can tell, the Jeep's performance isn't affected. But it is VERY annoying. As loud as it gets during normal drive mode sometimes, there is no way this is normal. I've opened a case number with Jeep because I don't feel like a loud whine is something I should have to deal with in a brand new truck. And the dealership doesn't seem to take me seriously. Has anyone else experienced this or successfully had it fixed?
