2014 WK2 Climate control sound

This is a strange one. When my heating system is blowing at fan speeds 4 - 6, I get this very high frequency (almost ultrasonic) sound in the passenger compartment. It is at frequency that becomes annoying. I have 48,000 miles on my on 2014 Overland and don't think I noticed before or perhaps assumed it was coming from the audio system. If I adjust the fan speed manually below position 4 or above to max the sound is eliminated. I almost called the dealer today to ask but thought they might think I was nuts. Anyone experience this?

Re: 2014 WK2 Climate control sound

My first action would be to replace the cabin air filter. When it gets dirty it can restrict airflow and at certain flow rates cause a "whistle" noise.

Otherwise, it could be the fan motor or a blend door. OR, just as likely, some other kind of debris got in there and is in just such a spot as to "whistle" with certain amounts of airflow.

Try the cabin air filter first.
