Thanks for the confirmation! I'm going to go buy some coolant as soon as I can find the right part number.

They sell it premix 50/50 saves a little trouble since you are just toping off. I didn't realize that until after I had bought the undiluted now I have more of it than I know what to do with.

Thanks for the link! I see other different coolants on amazon from mopar, some say "embittered". Its almost as confusing as VW and their G12, G12+,G12++, etc.. lol

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

Ok, so I'm having a hard time trying to find out the proper coolant for my 2014 JGC with Hemi. When I tool the pic of my coolant level, it was either red (red HOAT) or orange (orange HOAT), but def. not purple (OAT).

I found an old TSB:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0700412a.pdf

So I feel if that old TSB for 2013 vehicles mentions that they will use the purple (OAT), why does my 2014 JGC have the red HOAT or orange HOAT? btw, very hard to distinguish between the red and orange, to me anyways.

I also have the 2014 vehicle lubricant and chemical catalogue, and the part numbers don't match from the TSB above, probably revised part numbers may have happened.

It seems even the owner's manual is saying to use OAT, but if I haven't made a mistake, the OAT coolant is the purple stuff, which is def. not in my 2014 JGC w/ Hemi.

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

I have had an issue with mine also , every couple of weeks it is below the add and I have to top it off again. I took it in to have them check it when I had the steering fluid leak also which ended up being the seals on my rack which was replaced. They said they found no issue as to where my fluid is going. Since they had it, it has dropped back down to just above the add mark. I have never seen any fluid on the floor where it is parked and a lot of the driving is short around town trips. There is no signs of it burning off and no signs in the oil as my oil is perfectly clean like it should be after it was changed.

FCA did say that because it was taken in on another issue that was under warranty they have it on record if I take it back in again. I am 100% sure they only looked for leaks and did not pressure test the system. I looked for leaks all over and even took the plastic skid plate off for better access under the jeep.

I analyzed this very closely before I toped mine off, the ridiculous confusing situation that they have created with these colors is beyond stupid and its no wonder that people end up mixing the wrong types and ending up with particulate.

Looking in at them through the overflow bottles does not give a good color determination. take a small bit out and put it on white paper. it probably has reddish maybe slightly purplish color but mostly reddish but does not look purple and through the overflow bottle it looks orange do the same with the jug you buy. they will look purplish/red but not purple like in those tsb pictures. I think there is also a thread floating around on here talking about the factory fill OAT not looking as purple as they describe.

With a 2014v8 GC (mine is a 2014 v8 march 2013 build) you should use the part numbers below for the OAT 10 year 150,000 mile fluid

Taken right from the 2014 GC service manual
1 Gallon - 68163848AA (concentrate) 68163849AA (50/50)

Don't get wrapped around the stupidity of these colors and various shades of these colors. These are numbers that you need for a factory filled MY 2014 GC 1 Gallon - 68163848AA (concentrate) 68163849AA (50/50)

Believe me I went over these when I topped off because the colors and shades of colors don't look right especially viewing them in the overflow jug. The OAT (purple) is the correct one for you do not put any of those HOATs or anything else in there or you will end up with issues. Trust me

lol! Thanks for the reply! I'm scurred! lol! I can't hold you responsible if it gels up and ruins my cooling system, I'd rather have the dealer to blame! lol! jk!

I also found other threads on other sites, that there was the purple OAT, and when Fiat bought Chrysler and the alike, Fiat was already using an orange or red OAT, so then FCA started to add purple dye to their red/orange OAT to help reduce the confusion.

When I read about they purple dye, that just frustrated me even more, lol.

Here is a link to post in a thread on another site:

HOAT/OAT - One for the record books - Jeep Wrangler Forum

When he opened his reservoir up and shined a light onto the fluid it was the orange-ish color, but when he put a on the outside of the resevior, the coolant was purple, lol! Magic coolant!
